What you call yourself, say about yourself, is important. What you say about yourself can either be a blessing to you or a curse to you. Notice, Proverbs 18:21 says, Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. That word power is translated as - a hand the open one [ indicating power, means, direction, etc. ]. So, the tongue/your words have power and that is they produce fruit/manifestations. Jesus said words are seeds in Mark 4:14 and what do seeds do, they produce fruit. I'm writing this because I keep seeing the results of what I say about my hands. The Bible says we have the power to bless and curse. Luke 6:28 says, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. I have a tendency of calling my hands "The Blessed Hands" and I noticed that my hands gets things done that other people's hands don't. Just yesterday my sister was trying to do something and wasn't having any success and was about to give up when I said give it to me and when I tried it worked. I've seen that happen over and over again.
When some sickness attacked my body, I read this article called, How To Receive And Keep Your Healing, and it talked about the word being seed and your heart being ground. And it talked about sowing/saying God's word as seed. So, I started calling myself according to God's word, 1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. So, what did I start sowing/calling myself-"By Jesus stripes I am healed," and in the process of time, in a few months I received that fruit of healing. Just like in Joel 3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. Why do you think called told the weak to call themselves strong, because you can't get new fruit calling yourself where you are. A quick note, remember one of the meanings of the word power in Proverbs 18:21 is direction. In James 3:1-4 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. 2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. 4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Notice, in verses 3 and 4 he's making a connection with the tongue of the horse and the helm of a ship determining the direction they go. In verse 4 make the connection- the ship is your body, the governor is you(spirit man), and your tongue is the helm. One power of the tongue is it determines the direction your body goes. I can attest to that, I've told this before that one time I ate a banana and got sick even though I was eating them just fine before. And from that time on I started saying, "I can't eat bananas" and from that time on they made me sick. But, then I was watching TV and this man was preaching on the power of the togue and your words and he said, "Some of you ate something one time and got sick and started telling people you can't eat it. If your words got you there they can get you out." So, I started saying, "I can eat bananas" and in a matter of months I heard a voice on the inside of me to go ahead and take one because my father always kept fruit in the house and when I did it had no ill effect on me. Notice, my tongue/words determined the direction of my body just as Proverbs 18:21 says. Nobody will ever convince me that our words don't have power.
Just like Abraham and Sarah before God changed their names in Genesis 17:4,5,15,16 in verses 4 and 5 God said, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And in verses 15 and 16 it says, And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. 16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. Abraham means father of a multitude and Sarah means princess of nations, God had them call themselves in line with his word even though his body was dead and his wife's womb was dead. It's important that you use your words/power to speak in line with God's word. In Psalm 107: 2 it says, Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy. What the word says about you is what you should be saying about you.
It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Romans 5:8-10 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. [10] For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 2 Peter 3:9 King James Version 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
