In a Rescriptum ex Audientia Sanctissimi approved on March 25 and published on May 28, Leo XIV introduced a new procedural faculty concerning the governance of religious institutes and monasteries.
The measure grants the Vatican Congregation for Religious the authority to permit a diocesan bishop to dismiss the superior of a monastery under canon 699 §2 of the Code of Canon Law.
The Dicastery is led by Sister Simona Brambilla, Prefect, and Sister Tiziana Merletti, Secretary.
The rescript is signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State. It also notes that Pope Francis had previously expressed support for this approach.

Note how mostly traditional religious orders who were gaining young vocations were getting targeted by the Vatican.
However, perhaps in diocese where there are sympathetic bishops they will still succeed.
My canon law contacts inform me that this was specifically prompted by this situation:

Vatican suppresses Carmelite monastery following long-running controversy
The Vatican has suppressed the Carmelite Monastery of the Most Holy Trinity in Arlington, Texas, following a long-running controversy that began with a diocesan investigation into allegations that the prioress had broken her vow of chastity. . .
The controversy began last year when Olson launched an investigation into the monastery amid allegations that Reverend Mother Teresa Agnes Gerlach had conducted an affair with a priest.
The women in May 2023 filed a lawsuit against Olson over the investigation, claiming violations of privacy and harming the physical and emotional well-being of the sisters. Olson eventually dismissed Gerlach from religious life.
In April of this year, the Vatican declared that the Association of Christ the King in the United States of America would oversee the “government, discipline, studies, goods, rights, and privileges” of the Texas monastery.
The women, however, defied the Vatican order, going so far as to associate with the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), a traditionalist group that is not in full communion with the Catholic Church and has a canonically irregular status. . .
Yayyyy, ebby! You found a truth. Of course there is illicit sex involved. Is sex between nuns and priests more devious than gay sex, ebby? Your readers need to know the proper order of sexual deviancy. Is lustfully breaking your vows “worse” than lust, lust? Or is it just “love is love?” As the FR expert I am sure you will set us all straight on this vocational confusion? Or is it clerical confusion? How about confusion being confusing? Do you need a synod to discus the matter at hand, ebby?
And so, ebby, you find yourself with fired nuns fired over sex and drugs hired by sspx who is looking to illicitly hire new bishops (for the comfort of the nuns?) I am sure fired strickland is on the case. Will we see fake articles from your cartoon network with you pontificating on this “tradition”, ebby? Excommunications on the horizon, ebby? Scoundrels all - ImagineThat!
Yes, you are the expert on defending sodomy. Thanks for admitting it.
Nice try, ebby. The quote is, “I am sure you will set us all straight on this vocational confusion? Or is it clerical confusion? How about confusion being confusing? Do you need a synod to discus the matter at hand, ebby?” A caucus with excommunicated Vig?
So, to keep you on track, ebby, as the FR kinky sex expert with reporting fetishes in all things religious and who has knowledge inside and outside the inclusive, irregular, indiscrete and illicit sspx, is sex between nuns and priests more diabolical than gay sex, ebby? Your readers need to know the proper order of sexual deviancy. We know you keep a list.
And when can we expect coverage from LieSite, GloriusLies, the Remains or other funded groups from your Cartoon Network? I’m sure fired strickland is biting to say something on the topic in his totally obscure, anti-Vatican manner.
The posted article had nothing to say about sexual sins.
It was you and your filthy mind that brought up sodomy and fornification.
You are one sick individual. It’s been obvious for quite some time now.
Try again, ebby. Reverend Mother Teresa Agnes Gerlach had conducted an affair with a priest.
She was not mentioned in the posted article, perv.
Yet you chose to bring them all up. We know you are heavily invested in the first two subjects; and the latter three all seem to haunt your troubled soul.
You misread a lot, ebby. And your guessing ain’t so great either.
It seems that Bishop Olson wants the orders land.
In this case, the wheelchair bound woman and the sickly brain tumor surviving man never touched, let alone had physical sex. They were a thousand miles apart at the time. However, you are certainly welcome to try to make the case that this somehow justifies your personal sodomy.
And he'll never stop trying to justify sodomy. It's a thing called
WoW, ebby yesterday you seemingly plead ignorance of this salacious story. Today you post on FR a LieSite article, which of course doesn’t explain the salacious facts. I have to hand it to you ebby. From ignorance to a LieSite article in less than 24 hours - you certainly have power with LieSite - quite a power move! Now get LieSite to post the facts...see above.
A salacious story only brought up by you with your perverted mind; but revealing another lie of yours that the mother superior and priest were actually fornicating. I'm sure you know what that word means, along with your favorite word, sodomy. They're the only two topics your interested in defending.
You earlier asked which is a graver sin. Well here's a clue: any one mortal sin condemns a soul to Hell, unless absolved in the Sacrament of Confession. Whether that sin is sodomy, fornication, murder, or deliberately missing Mass on a Sunday, each one is mortal, deadly to your soul.
So stop asking asking questions that any real Catholic already knows the answer.
Well, ebby the first half of your response is patently false.
But, I think others, Catholics, can benefit from the second half of your response - maybe a good reason for you to refrain your picking on a particular group of sinners. We are all sinners.
I don’t see any real Catholics agreeing with your persistent defense of sodomy and fornication.
