🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(4/11/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities

Exodus 15:22-27

22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.

24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

25 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

27 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,

How Blessed and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!

How Magnificent,

How Holy,

How Sanctified and Glorious!

When I Awake in the Morning,

You Are There.

All through the day,

You Are With me.

And When I go to Sleep at Night,

You Are Still Watching Over Us All.

For You Neither Slumber Nor Sleep.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

"Passing the Buck" is a common way of dealing with problems. It's similar to "Kicking the Can Down The Road", and causes me no end of frustration when I want to get something accomplished. When presented with a problem, I try to solve it myself, even if I don't have the authority to do so. When I'm unable to solve the problem, I get frustrated.

This is especially evident when attempting to contact a Utility Company about an issue. After what seems like hours going back and forth with recorded messages and finally getting a human being, that human ends up passing the buck to yet another round of recorded messages, and the problem never gets solved. If a real person had answered the phone in the first place, and had the authority to solve the problem, they would have a happy customer. But instead, my Blood Pressure goes up, and I find myself SCREAMING into the phone. Finally, a human comes on the line, fixes the problem, says "Have a Nice Day", and it's over. Meanwhile, I have lost over two hours of my life that's I'll never get back!

In that way, I'm a lot like Moses. People came to him with all their complaints, and he took it personally. When he turns to God for the answer, he is already frustrated and upset. Then, instead of just stating the problem, Moses approaches God with complaints and frustration, and probably High Blood Pressure too. He goes to God as a Last Resort, when it should have been the FIRST.

I can understand the frustration of the Israelites upon finding a brackish oasis. Their disappointment must have been profound. Here are three stories from 2022, that express disappointment.

1. It's the Journey, NOT The Destination: Yesterday, I had to go back to "the Old Neighborhood" to pick up a check for some items I had on consignment. It was a gorgeous day, so I took Blue, my motorcycle, on the circuitous route into Boston which was through several wooded parkways...not a single highway did my two wheels touch! Lovely! What a beautiful way to start the Labor Day Weekend!

I found a parallel parking space right away, in front of another second-hand store that had the most amazing window display. Festooned with Oriental Carpets, Mexican Blankets, and other Ethnic Art, the Window-Dressing promised a treasure trove of Antiques and Collectibles that would certainly enhance my Bohemian Decor. I'd have to check it out...after I completed my errands.

After taking care of business, I went into the awesome-looking store and was profoundly disappointed. The merchandise was the typical second-hand fare one would encounter at a Goodwill Thrift Store. I walked out, snapped on my helmet and prepared to ride home, using the same circuitous route to avoid the Epic and Legendary Labor-Day Cape Traffic.

Well, it would seem that everybody and his brother had the same idea. Even though I am sure the Interstate was already jammed with Cape Traffic, so was my circuitous wooded route homeward. It took me over two hours to go 26 miles. Blue, my Antique Harley, didn't overheat, but I DID!

2. The ReDo That Wasn't: Although our local Salvation Army Thrift Store had been closed for over a year due to COVID, and had done some repairs during that "Down Time", the stuff in the store really hadn't changed much. Still it was a good source for books, records, and small items. Anyway, I was surprised to see that, a month ago, the store was "CLOSED FOR REMODELING". "Wonderful!" I thought."The store needs it. I wonder what cool new stuff they will be getting in? Maybe they will have brighter lighting, nice decor, and dressing rooms. I am looking forward to this."

Several weeks passed, during which the store was gutted to the bare walls and heavy equipment brought in. I was so happy! I couldn't wait for the Grand Reopening.

Last Thursday, I went by and saw a bunch of cars in the parking lot. Hurray! They're opened! I went in and was confronted with the SAME EXACT STORE that was there before it was gutted. The same merchandise stood in the same spots as before, the same books on the wall shelves, the same clothing on the same racks, and the same few sticks of furniture where they had been before. I closed my eyes and opened them again, thinking that I was suffering from an Hallucination. But no...it was exactly how it was before. Maybe the walls had been painted, but that was IT. I felt so disoriented and disappointed that I just had to leave. It was BIZARRE!

3. Bitter Water: Tippy has been doing so well in her Socialization Classes, that her trainer and I decided to take our dogs to a beautiful wooded reservation area alongside the North River. We met up in the parking lot, harnessed up the four dogs, and walked the half mile through the woods to the boathouse on the River. I had brought water for Tippy, and was ready to share it with the other dogs, except that they made a beeline for the riverbank.

Don't let them drink that water!" I yelled. This is an estuary. The water is salty!"

But...I was too late. "Chaos", a big, goofy boxer, was chest-deep in the brackish water, slurping it up. Then he promptly bounded up the bank and threw up on my friend's shoes.

These three stories all illustrate the disappointment of seeing something that looks good and refreshing, but turns out to be bitter. The very word "Marah" means "bitter" and is the root word of the Hebrew names "Miriam" and "Mary". (That means that my name is a combination of the Hebrew "Bitter" and the French word for "Warrior" Mary-Louise). Sometimes I do feel as if life can be a bitter battle.

After three days of trekking in the desert without a source of fresh water, the Israelites were delighted to see an oasis up ahead. They must have rushed to the water and started slurping like "Chaos at the North River". But it was bitter and they spewed it out of their mouths. Naturally, they blamed Moses.

God directed Moses to cut off a Branch from a tree and throw it in the water, which made the water sweet and fit to drink.

Just as we saw Messianic Parallels with Abraham and Isaac, Jacob's sons and Joseph, and in The Passover, we see them here. The Messiah is called "The Righteous Branch" by both Isaiah and Zechariah. The Cross of Christ is sometimes called "the Tree", and Jesus Himself called Himself the "Fountain of Living Water".

It is also in this Passage that Almighty God gives us one of His Many Names: YHVH Rapha, which means "I AM the God Who Heals You."
