🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(4/10/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Exodus 15:1-13
15 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.
3 The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name.
4 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.
5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.
6 Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.
8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.
10 Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.
11 Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
12 Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.
13 Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.

Mom would burst into song at the drop of a hat. If a conversation contained a phrase that also appeared as a lyric from "The American Song Book", Mom would start singing. Here's an Example:
Me: "Mom, could you get a tweezer? I got a splinter under my skin."
Mom: "I Got You
Under my Skin.
I Got You
Deep in the heart of me..."
Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hart, George and Ira Gershwin, Lerner and Lowe, Julie Stein, Betty Compton, and the entire Archive of the Brill Building and Broadway rolled off her tongue like it was Holy Writ. At the time I thought Mom was nuts, but those songs served me very well in my Music Career. I never had to learn them, as they were always in my mind. Both Mom and the songs would have been 100 years old this year, as many of them were copyrighted in 1926.
Human Beings have been known to break into song at the drop of a hat. Back when I wrote the musings on the Song of Moses and Miriam, I spoke of this tendency, carried to extremes in Opera and The American Musical. Here is a reprise of that post, from over six years ago:
"An American Art Form, known as the "Broadway Musical", has undergone many changes over the years. Not quite like it's European ancestor, the Musical was not completely "operatic", as the music was infused with "Americana" (Ragtime, Jazz, Blues, Folk, etc) and there was spoken dialogue between the musical numbers. The themes were usually lighter than opera as well, with the finale celebrating a conclusion rather than having dead bodies littering the stage. ...
In the early days of the Musical, the plots were wafer-thin and just served to frame the musical numbers, which were often lavish and overdone. This was OK because of the "Fourth Wall" in live performances. The audience suspends their disbelief and are able to accept the fact that people are singing rather than speaking to each other.
With the advent of Sound Movies, the American Musical was the obvious choice. This transition from Silent to Sound Movie-making is hilariously portrayed in the Classic Movie "Singing In The Rain". The movie shows the difficulty in transferring the stage musical onto the silver screen. There are some terrific musical numbers in this movie (there's even a song about Moses LOL), but, let's face it. People don't just burst into song like that in real life!
Or Do They?
Chapter 15 of the Book of Exodus happens right after the Hebrews cross the Red Sea, and the Egyptian Army is drowned in its depths. Upon reaching the other shore, Moses bursts into song. Miriam gathers the women and they all pick up their tambourines and dance. It's a big production number! The difference between this and a musical is that the song and dance are in praise to the Lord. It is a song of Victory, but it is God's Victory. In fact, the Holy Name of YHVH is sung ten times in this song. It is God's Covenant Name with His People. The Song has five verses, the first four celebrating Deliverance and the fifth prophesying victory in the Promised Land.
Cecille B. DeMille wisely chose not to include this "Production Number" in his movie "The Ten Commandments". He saved his production skills for the big "Golden Calf Scene" which could have earned DeMille an "R" Rating at the time, if those ratings had existed in 1956.
But, did you know that there is a Musical based on the Ten Commandments? I've seen it. It's a little strange, to say the least! Val Kilmer sings the Role of Moses. I'm NOT making this up.
Nevertheless, Moses and Miriam actually DID "burst into song" on that amazing day."
I would have too, and I'm sure Mom would have.

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
