In the face of increasing tensions worldwide, Pope Leo XIV has called the faithful to join him in a prayer vigil for peace on Saturday, April 11.
In his first Easter message - on Easter Sunday, the pontiff linked Jesus’ Resurrection to peace. He noted that Jesus’ conquest of death, darkness and hatred came at the cost of his life. Still, Jesus gave his life freely out of love — the same love the faithful are called to show to neighbor in a “new humanity” in the Risen Christ.
“We are growing accustomed to violence, resigning ourselves to it, and becoming indifferent,” he explained. “Indifferent to the deaths of thousands of people. Indifferent to the repercussions of hatred and division that conflicts sow. Indifferent to the economic and social consequences they produce, which we all feel.
As an Easter people, Pope Leo emphasized, the hope of the Risen Christ must permeate our world and our hearts, inspiring meaningful transformation.
“The peace that Jesus gives us is not merely the silence of weapons but the peace that touches and transforms the heart of each one of us!” he said.
“Let us allow ourselves to be transformed by the peace of Christ! Let us make heard the cry for peace that springs from our hearts!”

...look what Trump and the 2020s get.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
21 “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
- Matthew 17
The Ayatollah(s)/IRGC/Basij may not be too receptive to the Pope’s message.
Jesus said that the most stubborn demons (the invisible ones that are behind the evil of this world) can only come out by prayer and fasting.
the invisible demons behind the visible* evil…
prayer & fasting…
I had rather pray for the evil, murderous radical Islamic regime to fall in short order. Peace with these murderers in control will never be real peace. Wise up, Leotard.
American and Israeli soldiers as young as 18-19 are on the frontlines and dying - be it Iran, Lebanon, and elsewhere…Worth praying for peace even for their sake. Ukraine, Russia too for that matter.
Where did Jesus ever say “pray for peace?!I could not find it .. Who made up the nonsense?
It’s easy to be snarky when you are not an 18 year old soldier for USA or Israel on the front line about to lose a limb, a friend, or your own entire life and future ahead of you.
Exactly.
Reagan and the 1980s got John Paul II..

Mat #10:34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household”.
Have no use for this pope.
That verse is referring to division caused by becoming Christian and the persecution you will get met with even by your own family.
Someone calls for peace and look at all of you riling up like ravenous wolves.
That’s how the people treated Jesus.
On April 11th? Why not call on Catholic parishioners to pray for peace every day of the year?
This Pope is a strange one.
I hope you’re aware that it’s not 1968 & there is no draft, so I doubt there are 18 yo soldiers quaking in their boots about the coming events on the battlefield. The majority of our modern military is comprised of college educated men & women who chose to serve their country. I’m surprised you think so poorly of the ppl who defend us 24/7.
The antipope chose a side, that of terrorism, mass migration and ethnic genocide by colonization.
All the more reason why we don’t want them to die, come home maimed, or brain damaged.
And there is a draft for IDF troops. And the suicide rate for those returning was the highest EVER in 2025.
Give it a rest! These soldiers are proud of their service and serve unafraid to accomplish their mission! You insult their service with posts like this! Just stuff it!
So you think seeing a homeless veteran amputee by your local highway should become more normalized then? That it’s not a big deal IDF soldiers are committing suicide upon return home?
You are right on. As an 18 year old volunteer in 1964, with 4 tours in SEA, volunteered during the draft. We knew the risks and for today’s military the mission carries on with more sophisticated tactics and weaponry being carried out. Peace through strength and the mission is clear.
