🇺🇸Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem 🇮🇱(4/8/26)[Prayer]

A New Study For A New Year: Personalities
Exodus 13:1-22
13 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.
3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.
4 This day came ye out in the month Abib.
5 And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
6 Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the Lord.
7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.
8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord's law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.
10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.
11 And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,
12 That thou shalt set apart unto the Lord all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the Lord's.
13 And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.
14 And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the Lord brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:
15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the Lord slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.
16 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.
17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.
21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

Back in the 1990s, my husband and I took a yearly motorcycle trip to Washington DC for the Rolling Thunder Parade. We rode in it nine years in a row. Often, we would schedule our vacation for the week before or after, and spend it in Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, or even in the West Virginia Mountains. One of my favorite places to stay was on the "Colonial Triangle", a Parkway that connected Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg. Jamestown was especially interesting, as it had a replica ship (like the Mayflower in Plymouth, MA), a Replica Village, a Glassmaker's Shed, a Museum, and a REAL Archaeological dig. The Park Rangers were passionate about their jobs, and very well informed.
While he was delivering his speech about Pocahontas, the Park Ranger was interrupted by a worker, who ran up to him and said:
"THEY FOUND IT!"
The Park Ranger got very emotional, and told us to follow him down to the edge of the James River, which was low due to a dry winter.
The Archaeologists who worked the Dig had found the original post holes of first English Settlement in the New World. Because of the changes in the flow of the river, they had never looked in this area before...and there it was.
The following story is one I shared a few years ago, about finding fossils of the past:
An apocryphal tale speaks of a couple of amateur fossil-hunters in the California desert. While searching for dinosaur bones, they came across a small Egyptian-style sphinx. Some serious digging revealed more sphinxes, and the remains of what looked like the pylons of an Ancient Egyptian Temple. The diggers were ecstatic. Could they have found something that would change our perceptions forever? Was it a sign of Ancient Alien Astronauts, proof of the Book of Mormon, remains of Atlantis, or an indication that the Ancient Egyptians discovered America 5000 years before Columbus?
Further investigation revealed that these artifacts were made of 20th Century materials, and were, in fact, the remains of the "Departure From Egypt Scene" in Cecil B. DeMille's 1923 Silent Movie Epic "The Ten Commandments". As the late Gilda Radner's character Emily Latella would say: "Never Mind."
Cecil B. DeMille would be shooting this scene again in 1956, on a much larger scale, and in Technicolor.
Although most people would say that their favorite scene in "The Ten Commandments" is the Parting of the Red Sea, my favorite is the Scene of the "Departure from Egypt". This was actually filmed in Egypt, with hundreds of Native Egyptians cast as "Extras" and the actual Egyptian Royal Cavalry participating. This time, the King of Egypt was delighted to be a part of it, and offered DeMille the use of his armies and facilities. The sheer enormity of the scene is overwhelming, and there is not a single Computer-Generated-Character in the lot. Here it is for your enjoyment:
The departure From Egypt from The Ten Commandments 1956
There has been controversy among scholars as to the actual time of the departure. A hint appears in Today's Passage. "On that Very Day" is actually "On the Bone" of the day in the Hebrew. Here is an article about that:
The Bone of the Day
Since the bones are the strongest part of the body, the "Bone of the Day" could mean the strongest part of the day, when the Sun is highest in the sky...High Noon.
Looks like those fossil-hunters found their bone after all.
Moses had a temper, and he could be argumentative. At this point in time, though, he followed God's instructions to the letter. The event is commemorated every year by Jewish People in the Passover, and by Christians every time they participate in Communion. You don't have to dig too deeply at all to see the connection.
For sixteen years I've used various translations to write this Thread. This time, I happened to use the King James Version. I hope the archaic language isn't obscuring the story (like the James River covering up the post holes?). I'm getting used to the language...I hope it's OK with you all! It's probably the version Pocahontas read!
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Joining all in prayer for the peace of Jerusalem.
Thank you for the fascinating stories.
Moses honored Joseph’s plea and called up those bones (of Joseph’s), from the Nile ... and, carried that coffin to the masses awaiting their departure from slavery and into the wilderness.
Will now have to look for the 1923 b&w silent version of DeMille’s Ten Commandments. What a difference 30+ years made, in the filming tech.

The 1923 movie is a wee bit “preachy” as it has a paallel modern story alongside the story of the Exodus. It was great for its time, but you might find it somewhat dated now.
But, it’s fun to compare them! :-)

DeMille had a Heart Attack (seriously!) while filming that scene.
He kept on working.
I can’t imagine...
