CHRISTMAS BIBLE-ART EPISODE #8 of 33

MARY'S "MAGNIFICAT"
PRAISES GOD

L U K E
CHAPTER 1

At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and ELIZABETH WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. BLESSED IS SHE WHO HAS BELIEVED that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!”

And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
    holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
    from generation to generation.
He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their
    inmost thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
    remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
even as he said to our fathers.”

Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

I had to laugh...when I read this, out of my ignorance, this was what formed in my brain:

I thought it was a spelling error in the title of the thread, but...I learn something very day...:)

Now...back to the regularly scheduled theological discussion!

You may recall that I informed you previously that every single day I pray for your salvation, among many others. So, I consider this morning’s encounter to be a manifestation of the process as God carries you along to the future moment for which I pray: when you finally turn away from running your own life and surrender yourself wholeheartedly to Jesus, and be able like Mary did to praise Him.

In the meantime, rlmorel, Merry Christmas!

#24 puts the focus just where it belongs, doesn’t it.

And Protestants, once again, try to slam Mary in a little comfortable box.

Don't know where you got slamming from me quoting just the relevant Scriptures and adding all related pictures I could find, but Merry Christmas anyway!

There is certainly a lot going on now.

As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. BLESSED IS SHE WHO HAS BELIEVED that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!

And Mary said...

In the DAVID movie, David's mother has a lot to sing about, such as in the "Tapestry" song:

There's a picture though you cannot see it yet
Every thread has a purpose and
soon you'll see your part in this tapestry...

The design in the tapestries presents these letters from right to left:

kaf (כ), turned 180/reversed
final mem (ם)
samech (ס)
nun (נ)

Assembled together (first the "ki" was turned, then the order of the rest of the letters could be reversed):

Now you can see that there's a miracle (nes נס) inside their assembly:

כ נ ס ם

nischem נִסְּכֶם is "their miracle",

if you could see from heaven's view
all the plans drawn out for you
Like the way we work the loom
He knits you from inside the womb
Every string is used in His design.

David chimes in:

I lift my eyes above the hills. Though it's not clear,
I know I will catch the view that heaven sees
and leap into his plans for me.

I'll find out where the story goes.

Backing up to seconds 40-41, weird how David left his harp with the sheep. It mysteriously just slips away, disappearing from the view going forward.

♪ The sheep they do not know where they are going, but they are following the shepherd where he leads.. ♪

I don't know what is my favorite part in that song video, but "the trouble with tribbles" starting at 1:13 is right up there!

Fascinating that they were "conceived by screenwriter David".

I just realized something, looking through these depictions of Mary’s praise of God: Zecharias was still mute. He may have heard her, but he couldn’t say anything, since John wasn’t born yet.

Talk about driving a point home. Mary got pregnant while virgin and Zecharias asked for proof from Gabriel about his wife’s miraculous pregnancy, and so was turned mute. That’s the difference between living in faith and not living by faith.

I think Zecharias got the point. His first words were praise to God and a prophecy.

I think Zecharias got the point.

A typical school year traditionally has been nine months. And that's how long Zecharias matriculated with Gabriel as his Headmaster. I'll bet he learned plenty!

Now my question is, did Gabriel strike Zecharias mute on his own initiative and authority, or did God tell him, “If Zecharias questions you, strike him mute”?

Certainly, Gabriel had the power, the wisdom, and the authority to strike Zecharias mute. But of course, God would know this in advance.

A thoughtful and interesting question, Jeff. My survey of Scripture from memory includes instances of God issuing detailed instructions and also leaving the angels autonomy within the mission. But it does seem to be presented as the latter.

Catholics think you have to go through Mary to reach Jesus. He quoted Scripture. Catholics don’t.

I love when Protestants tell us what they believe. In the age of the Internet however it’s ridiculous to say something like this that’s so easily refuted.

Here: https://www.catholic.com/audio/sp/why-catholics-make-such-a-big-deal-about-mary

And yes, she’s a big enough deal that there is a reason that all nations will call her blessed. Too bad the Protestants want to reduce her to a vagina with legs.

My first thought too was the n left out My bad!

The difference between “Magnificat” and “Magnificant” lies in their meanings:

Magnificat refers to the canticle of Mary, spoken in Luke 1:46-55, which is a hymn of praise to God, particularly highlighting God’s favor towards the humble.

Magnificant, on the other hand, is a misspelling of “magnificent,” which means grand, elegant, or splendid in appearance.

In summary, “Magnificat” is a religious text, while “Magnificant” is a term used to describe something that is grand or impressive in appearance.
