Whenever a Bible Verse Speaks of Angels, I just HAVE to share this TRUE Story:

Tornado On State Road 7

Before I even begin to share today's little story, I MUST assure you that it is 100% TRUE. I will provide details to validate it, but there is no record of the incident with Broward County, as the Police were never called...so don't even bother to check!

It was deep into the 2000 Hurricane Season as I turned the Harley off the Sawgrass Expressway and began traveling East on Oakland Park Blvd, on my way home from teaching a piano lesson in Southwest Ranches, when it suddenly got very dark and windy. In my rear view mirrors, I could see the sky turn black and GREEN behind me, as a huge "supercell" roiled in off the Everglades. These clouds had the entire width of Florida to pick up steam, and they were at my back. After some quick calculation, I determined that the best way home would be to turn left on State Road 7 and barrel straight for ten miles till I got to the safety of my garage. Leaves were skipping around me, and I felt myself getting hit with what seemed like little bullets...it was hail! "OMG!" I thought, "Well, here's the green light, gotta make that turn..."

Suddenly, a cone-shaped, whirling, spinning cloud (I hesitate to call it a "tornado" out of respect for our Oklahoma FReepers) went right through my front forks, lifting the bike into the air, all in the blink of an eye. I leaped off the bike and went sprawling in the middle of the street, stopping traffic. The bike was on its side, with the engine still running, spinning like a food processor and grinding away the side mirror, the windshield, and most importantly, the gear shift lever.

Two Jamaican Youths in white T-Shirts and waist-long dreadlocks picked me up off the street. One of them peeled off his pure-white T-shirt and wrapped it around my arm, which was a mess of road-rash. The other retrieved the bike, managed to get it in neutral, and the two of them placed me back on the bike. I managed to get home in the ensuing rain, but because the gear shift lever was ground away, had to do the whole 10 miles in first gear!

The next day, I went to every merchant and home in the area to find the two Jamaican Youths who had helped me, and nobody knew anybody who fit the description. Since the White T-Shirt was covered in blood, I had discarded it, and, other than a few road-rash scars, the new shift lever, side mirror, left-turn signal, and gear shift lever on the 1993 FXR Harley (which I still ride) there is no record of the incident anywhere.

Now, I ask you. Do you think those Jamaican Youths may have been ANGELS? Do you have a story that may have been an encounter with an angel? Feel free to share! :-)

⚠️WARNING! Execrable Pun Just Ahead!⚠️

If I say the word "Cherub", what do you see in your mind? If you think of a chubby little baby with cute little wings, you are not alone. The false image of this Powerful Spiritual Being comes to us from the Renaissance and Baroque Periods of Art History, and have adorned the ceilings of Cathedrals, Fine Art, and Christmas Cards for centuries.

However, whenever an Angel appeared to a person in Scripture, the person falls onto his face in fear and worship. The Angel always corrects the person. DON'T DO THAT! the Angel inevitably scolds. "ONLY GOD DESERVES YOUR WORSHIP!"

A proper representation of a Cherub (which is even a higher order of being than a regular angel) would not show him as a baby, and we need to repair this "baroque" image. (OK...that's enough!)

Many of us have an idea about angels, and what one would look like. Artists, both Great and not-so great, have been depicting their visions of angels for thousands of years.

But the Artist/Shepherd/Songwriter/King David sings of One to Whom God says, "Thou Art My Son." We were made a little LOWER than the Angels, but the Son is HIGHER.

Handel depicts this with a Tenor Recitative leading into a Jubilant Short Outburst of Chorus.

Once again, The Librettist uses Old Testament Scripture to depict a New Testament Event (The Ascension). Here's the link: Unto Which of the Angels.

My sister had several “strange” encounters. One time she was hiking with friends in the mountains. It was a rather scary and narrow path, she found herself way behind and too frightened to walk. She heard a voice behind her, a man was coming toward her, stopped and asked if he could guide her. A very soothing voice relaxed her and they went to the top where her friends were waiting. She turned around to thank the stranger and there was nobody and nobody had seen him.

Once, I was walking in the woods with Penny The Pitbull, and an elderly gent was walking beside me.

I could tell right away that the old gent was in early stages of dementia and was lost. I walked with him through the woods, asking questions until I was able to bring him back to his home.

I guess I was an angel that day!

But, yes. I think your Sister had an “encounter”. 😁

I can’t honestly say that I have seen an angel but many times when in a difficult situation, after praying for help, I have felt surrounded by a Heavenly presence who seemed to help me through the situation.

Amen to your prayer and story. I love those miraculous stories. Some have told me similar things but they had to wait tell everyone left, like a car heading straight at them, they said Jesus, and the car was suddenly right behind them, 3 times I have heard that. If we look back and remember events where we should have died but didn’t, I say angels were there.

Well, Jesus and the Apostles believed in Angels, so it’s very possible that that was your experience.

Those who debunk all mention of the existence of Angels are saying that Jesus and the Apostles were either ignorant or lying.

I have several stories of Divine Intervention. Here’s one:

Many many years ago I was traveling home after providing Professional Development for a school district several miles from home. Taking the normal route without any worry of storms . . . . all of a sudden it started to rain. . . I encountered an eerie yellow sky, my windshield wipers flapped open from the windshield, I couldn’t see a thing. . .but kept driving. . .duh! I thought there might be a truck behind me and since I couldn’t see anything except the yellow through the windows on all sides of the vehicle, there was no pulling over. The van then started rocking back and forth big time as I held tightly on the steering wheel, foot still on the pedal. In due time, the wind subsided, the atmosphere was normal. . .WHAT HAPPENED? Needless to say, I pulled off the road into someone’s drive and on my Tracfone called my Mom and Dad. They were always my “first go to” after all my unusual encounters. I was really shaken by what had taken place. I drove home in disbelief thanking the Lord for my safety. A few days later I decided to drive to where I thought my “experience” happened. There I saw a row of HUGE grain bins totally flattened. Of course it had been a tornado. I know the Lord sent His ministering angels to my rescue. Praise the Lord . . . .He wasn’t finished with me yet.
