The Chosen’s Dallas Jenkins doesn’t just impact viewers but also changes the lives of those who work on the show.
Half of The Chosen’s cast and crew are not believers.
“We’re always just looking for the best people to do the job,” Jenkins said.
Elijah Alexander, who plays Roman investigator Atticus, “through the process of making this show, he has come to understand Jesus more,” Jenkins said. “And last year he texted me and he said, ‘Dallas, for the first time in my life, I fully believe and I am His now.’ And he said: ‘And I have you to thank for making the introduction.’”
“Is there anything better to hear in the world than ‘thank you’ for making the introduction to Jesus? I want that on my tombstone,” he added.
Alexander eventually got baptized on the set.
“We actually have a lake that we use as the Sea of Galilee. And during a day of filming, Elijah got baptized in the Sea of Galilee set in Texas,” Jenkins said.
Other moments have been when cast and crew were brought to tears by scripture or certain scenes.
“There’s moments where Scripture is actually being quoted – and I can’t tell you how often this happens – it’s dozens of times where an actor is saying the words of Scripture, and something overwhelming happens, and they’ll start being emotional even when the scene isn’t calling for it,” Jenkins said. “And I’ll have to do multiple takes until they stop crying.”
“And then afterwards, they’ll say to me: ‘I don’t know what’s going on, Dallas. I just couldn’t get through that line.’ And I’m like, I know exactly what’s going on. You’re speaking the words of Scripture…God does something very important in those moments,” the director said.

Glory to God!
Can a person still watch last season? I never got to see the whole series.
Amen!
Amen!
You can’t get near Jesus—even a roughly accurate portrayal of Him — without being changed.
That’s why some churches bury Him under ritual and soft, sleepy sermons. They’re not doing it out of malice. They just don’t want things to get “out of hand.” Institutions survive by managing outcomes, keeping order, keeping people calm.
But Jesus doesn’t keep anything calm.
When He shows up—even in a faint, theatrical echo—lives get overturned. People repent in ways you can’t plan. Pride cracks. Hearts break open. The sleepy wake up. And once a person wakes up, they start seeing how absurd and hollow conventional life really is.
Most churches don’t know what to do with that kind of upheaval.
They want Jesus present, but not disruptive. Near, but not untamed.
Safe.
But He isn’t safe.
He never has been.
Get close to Jesus—even the shadow of Him—and you won’t stay the same.
And deep down, everyone knows it. That’s why some try so hard to keep Him at a polite distance.
By the power of the Holy Spirit! Just wow!
Thanks for sharing that link!
TY. For some reason it was a mess back around July.

I've never watched, but if Christ or the apostles are given any lines outside the Gospels, it's nothing but scandal.
Also, I can't get past their "Christ" reminding me of Adam Sandler's opera man.
Wow! Well said!
My fear is that people are being introduced to a false Mormon Jesus.
Thx. Full credit to the Holy Spirit who moved me to say that between my first and second cup of coffee.
Uh, the Chosen if NOT the Gospel.
It’s a poor substitute.
It's important to understand that they develop backstory because there's no other way to expand the story of Jesus into a TV series. But, given that, they are diligent to stay as closely as possible to Scripture and add nothing in the backstory that isn't completely consistent with the Gospel.
All that said, it is quite beautiful and has brought a lot of people to Christ.
the Aftershows consist of interviews of the actors and writers.
the Roundtables feature discussions between show creator Dallas Jenkins, a Messianic Jewish Rabbi, a Roman Catholic priest, and an Evangelical Bible scholar.
One of our son’s school friends is one of the cast
Thanks again!
