Celebrating Sabbath as a Holistic Health Practice: The Transformative Power of a Sanctuary in Time
National Library of Medicine ^ | 8/2019 | Barbara Speedling

Sabbath-keeping has several holistic health benefits when done for intrinsic reasons. Most research on Sabbath-keeping is about individuals where Sabbath-keeping is customary. This organic inquiry describes how a Sabbath promoted transformation for ten women where Sabbath-keeping was not the norm. Six themes emerged: Sabbath-keeping enhanced self-awareness, improved self-care, enriched relationships, developed spirituality, positively affected the rest of a Sabbath-keeper's week, and Sabbath-keeping practices and philosophies also evolved over time. The author argues that reviving the best parts of Sabbath-keeping is an effective, accessible, holistic practice that can contribute to the well-being of individuals, communities, and the earth.

Article from 2019 about the transformative power of the weekly day of rest (Bible Sabbath is the 7th day set aside at creation for man). Charlie Kirk's book about how the 7th day Sabbath "Transformed" his life is due out on 12/9 I believe. Already a National Best Seller.

The Bible of course promises a blessing to anyone who calls MY HOLY DAY a delight. "MY" being God. It's God's holy day. For us. Isaiah 58:13.

And not one jot or tittle can be changed. Amen.

“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words.

Isaiah 58:13 Happy Sabbath tomorrow! It's almost here!

Isn’t it interesting how so many call Sunday, the first day the “Lord’s day”.....it’s tradition.

The Bible calls the Sabbath the Lord’s day. From Isaiah 58:13.

“The holy day of the Lord......”

Later Jesus said he was “Lord of the Sabbath.”

Here’s a translation from the NLB that I like. Matthew 15:9...

9 Their worship is worthless, for they teach their man-made laws instead of those from God.’[a]”

OUCH!!
Ouch.....

The Lord commanded the Jews to honor the Sabbath not because it was holistic, healthy for dieters or gives one a Zen feeling. No. It is a day of rest and learning. That was for Friday night sundown to Saturday night sundown. That is the cycle in Judaism.

Then along came Christianity. They copied the Jews but then were commanded to go to the Church on Sundays. Saturday was already taken.

Along comes bored Muhammad. Gee, Saturday is taken by those evil Jews. Sunday is taken by those awful Christians. What’s left?

Friday is the Islamic day of rest and sword sharpening.

____The Lord commanded the Jews to honor the Sabbath ___

Except the Bible says God made the Sabbath at creation. No Jew around. Just man. Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man. It’s God’s holy day....not Jew’s holy day. And it’s for us. It predates sin and it postdates the cross. Revelation 1:10. Thank ya.

Christ is my sabbath Placemarker

Hebrews 4:9-11:

“There remains, then, a Sabbath -rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.”

“Jesus is our ultimate Sabbath rest because He sanctifies believers and provides eternal spiritual rest beyond the physical cessation of labor commanded in the Old Testament. Christ’s rest signifies ceasing from self-effort and entering into salvation and peace through Him alone.”

“For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.

“So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.

“Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.

Hebrews 4:8–11
