The notes below are by a friend:
Yesterday, Monday 6 October, Pope Francis celebrated Vespers in commemoration of Our Lady of the Rosary "ad orientem". It was held in the church of Domus Australia in Rome.
A few remarks:
1. The papal ceremonial master was Msgr. Marco Agostini, who is well known in traditional circles (see this Rorate note from 2012).
2. Under the chanting of the Tu es Petrus, the pope entered and knelt for a time in silent prayer before the Tabernacle and the image of the Mother of God.
3. Among those present were Cardinal Burke and Cardinal van Eijk. Both are very good friends and publicly support the traditional liturgy and the withdrawal of the current restrictive measures.
4. For the first time, the Holy Father wore a detailed traditional alb, as did the liturgical assistants. In addition to the sub-dalmatics of the recent canonization, this is a subtle sign towards tradition.
5. Vespers were celebrated in Latin and "ad orientem" (even though the altar is freestanding, and not particularly intended for versus Deum celebration). The altar of the church was consecrated in 2011 by Cardinal George Pell.

That’s nice. I’m still bracing for the loss of our TLM, and continue to be astonished that it hasn’t happened yet.
He got accidentally turned around in the confusion of looking around for that iceburg chunk.
Only a little embarassing for Fr Martin, compared to the gay sex he promotes.
