[Catholic Caucus] Charlotte Bishop Forbids Communion Bench (Rail) at Catholic School

Bishop Michael Martin of Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, has forbidden to use the Communion bench for the daily Novus Ordo Eucharist at the Catholic High School in Charlotte.

According to the social media account “Charlotte Latin Mass Community” students and staff now kneel on the floor to receive Holy Communion.

The beautifully carved Communion bench was installed in spring 2017 (pictured). A teacher at the school had raised the money to fund the project in memory of a younger brother who passed away.

Effective July 8, Bishop Martin has forbidden all Masses in the Roman Rite but one. It is now celebrated only at one chapel in Mooresville, limited to Sundays.

Our former pastor solved the EMHC problem by installing altar rails (Our church was originally built without them). Now only the priest and deacons distribute Holy Communion. Our parish is huge and it takes a little longer, but it is by far more orderly, reverent, and no EMHC’s—female or otherwise (the only exception, if there is no deacon, is that a layperson that is authorized to bring Holy Communion to the homebound after Mass, might bring it to the frail or disabled in the pews).

At a parish in Louisville during the 90s a liberal pastor ripped all the kneelers out of the pews. Still, almost everyone would kneel on the floor during the Eucharistic Prayer. Some couldn’t, they were older or had knee problems. Was it uncharitable for me to hope this pastor had to start his Purgatory kneeling on hot stones? He also removed the Tabernacle from the church and put it in a small chapel in the back where it unfortunately remains to this day. There’s a certain mindset which refuses to humbly kneel before God, but Philippians 2:10 tells us that EVERY knee will eventually bow before God.

Same wayward Bish forbids Latin Mass.

I just went to Mass and kneeled at the Altar Rail to receive per usual.

What wrong with this Charlotte Bishop guy.

The old Thomas More quote....but God first.

Don’t follow a bad bishop decision into hell. God gave you a brain to weigh love of Him.

The pope demonstrated this with the clot shot: ‘save yourselves, screw the aborted baby!’ He went against EVERY adult and schoolboy saint book.
