Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father, Who Art In Heaven,
How Blessed and Glorious is Your Holy Name!
You Are Wonderful,
Almighty and All Knowing,
Heaven and Earth Sing of Your Glory!

There is No Place Too Deep Or Dark, Lord,
No Prison on Earth,
Or Under it,
Or Even Within The Dark Secret Places
of The Human Heart,
That You Can Not Reach.
Your Depth and Profundity is Unsearchable,
Your Fountains Of Mercy Reach beyond Any Created Place or Thing.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

”The Greatest Of these Is Love.”

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 78 (64-72)

64 Their priests fell by the sword,
and their widows made no lamentation.
65 Then the Lord awoke as from sleep,
like a warrior shouting because of wine.
66 He put his adversaries to rout;
he put them to everlasting disgrace.

67 He rejected the tent of Joseph,
he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim;
68 but he chose the tribe of Judah,
Mount Zion, which he loves.
69 He built his sanctuary like the high heavens,
like the earth, which he has founded for ever.
70 He chose his servant David,
and took him from the sheepfolds;
71 from tending the nursing ewes he brought him
to be the shepherd of his people Jacob,
of Israel, his inheritance.
72 With upright heart he tended them,
and guided them with skilful hand.

Dear Friends, my computer is driving me CRAZY this morning. I will share a story from way back in time that goes with Today's Verse. Then I have to do some serious Troubleshooting!

Growing up in the Boston Neighborhood of Mattapan during the 1950s was a wonderful experience. It was a vibrant ethnic community with Kosher shops and delis, Italian markets, and Irish pubs on every corner. There were very few "apartment buildings" as most people lived in 1-2-3 family homes that had at least a little patch of yard in front and back. Mattapan Square boasted three different Five & Dime Stores, a gorgeous Chinese Themed Movie theater (better and more beautiful than the famous one in Hollywood, Dad said) and trolley cars that could take you right into Downtown Boston if you wanted to "go into the city". To this day, if I meet someone who grew up in Mattapan (and I have, in Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, and Israel!) we launch into rhapsodic nostalgia about the place.

There seemed to be only three religions in Mattapan. One was either Catholic, Protestant, or Jewish. There seemed to be nothing else, and we all thought that we were a microcosm of the entire world. Although we all socialized with each other the three religions seemed to be totally distinct and separated from each other. You were either one, or the other, or the other. We all knew who the Jewish kids were because they brought matzoh to school in their lunch boxes during something called "Passover" in the Springtime. Another identifier was the little hut that sprung up on the lawn in the Autumn. It was strange that "normal" Dads, WW2 Veterans, shopkeepers, businessmen, insurance salesmen, barbers, etc, who never lifted a hammer all year, would suddenly build something like a grounded tree-house on the usually pristine lawn! Then, the family would haul the chrome and Formica kitchen set out into the hut and the family would eat out there, even though BBQ season was long past. It was one of the MYSTERIES of my childhood.

In the more than half century that has passed, I learned that the families were celebrating The Feast of Tabernacles. The name for the hut was a "Sukkah" or "Booth". Not only that, but Jesus was a Jew and He celebrated it too!

I imagine that, as a Carpenter, Jesus was more familiar with a hammer and nails, and built a really FINE Sukkah!

In Today's Verse about Living Water, we hear what Jesus said when He was attending this very Feast Day in Jerusalem. There may have been a large Sukkah built right on the grounds of the Temple. It was during this particular feast Day that I celebrated my Birthday in the shadow of the temple Mount near the Western Wall. There was a HUGE Sukkah erected there for the feast, and it was the most memorable Birthday of my Lifetime.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

”Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 NIV)

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
