Martin Luther: "The proof of a foolish, carnal man is this. that he regards himself as spiritual and is pleased with himself.”

Luther said “That is the proof of the spiritual and wise man. He knows that he is carnal, and he is displeased with himself; indeed, he hates himself and praises the law of God, which he recognizes because he is spiritual. But the proof of a foolish, carnal man is this. that he regards himself as spiritual and is pleased with himself.”

This is a commentary on one of the most controversial chapters in all of scripture. Romans 7. Paul describes a man who wrestles with his own sinful self.

The Roman Catholic church has taught this is an unconverted man. The Protestant Reformers rightfully teach this is a converted man. Paul himself.

Adventist pioneer devoted 2 chapters to Luther in her classic book on the Protestant Reformation and end time events called "The Great Controversy."

She said God appointed to Luther his work. Amen.

Perspective from authority above Luther (and the Apostle Paul):

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a supremely carnal man.

Among his inner circle, he was famous for it.

Notice Luther said the spiritual and wise man “Praises the law of God.”

The law of God is not dead. The converted man is dead to the law because it no longer has the power over us. With the holy spirit, the law becomes a delight...just as David said. Paul calls the law of God.......Holy just and Good. He was talking about the 10 commandments which he quoted from.

Luther....a hero for God.

So, it is “regret” that divides fools from wisdom. Hmph.

____So, it is “regret” that divides fools from wisdom. Hmph.___

Or an understanding of what the law of God requires of us. Absolute perfection. Of which only one person whoever walked the earth has and who imputes that perfection to us free through faith.

So while we realize how far we fall short every day of this demand...we glory knowing that in the judgement...we are accounted perfect. As if we have never committed a single sin.....in thought word or deed. We do regret who we are....we glory in who HE is.

May I ask your intent for posting this? (Which is not your i1st post like this) To my eyes you are not trying to “convert” anyone, just trying to cause strife amongst the Christians on this board. I believethere is an ulterior motive but as a Christian wanted to give you the opportunity to explain yourself.

Martin Luther’s Views on the Antichrist: (An excellent article)
https://digitalcommons.andrews.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?httpsredir=1&article=1166&context=jats

The intensity of Luther’s attacks on the papacy increased during 1545, the final year of his life. As Will Durant puts it, “Luther’s temper became hot lava as he neared the grave.”97 That year, in his preface to a compilation of his complete works, he described the Pope not only as Antichrist but also as the devil’s vicar.

His “last and most bitter attack on the pope” was called Against the Roman Papacy, An Institution of the Devil. Written at the request of Elector John Frederick, it was a response to two letters from Pope Paul III forbidding the emperor from calling a “free German National Coun cil” to settle the religious disputes within the empire. Three times in this publication Luther referred to the Pope as “the most hellish father.” He denounced him as a teacher of lies, blasphemies, and idolatries,” a murderer of kings, an inciter to all kinds of bloodshed, and “a brothel-keeper above all brothel-keepers and all vermin”—and even “a true were wolf.”

Were such attacks unchristian? Luther didn’t think so. Earlier, he had said it was “not sin” to refute Satan’s “reviling against godliness and God himself.” They must, he said, “be exposed and refuted” so the people could “be corrected and liberated from the tyranny of Satan.”

So catholics can post here all say long and you say nothing. A protestant posts less than once a day and you say it’s strife. Get outta here...

Too bad he didn’t apply this to himself later in life when he spewed out vile venom on Jews and rebelling peasants who couldn’t take any more oppression from their feudal overlords.

Luther had this hubristic idea that once Jews encountered his “new and improved” version of Christianity, they would convert en masse. When they didn’t, he reacted bitterly.

Isn’t there usually a caucus tag? I’m not complaining or criticizing, but you have made numerous posts about 7th Day Adventist. Often more than once a day.

And you have lied. Don’t confuse a response such as this to a thread. I don’t even average once a day much less “often”..

Catholic threads are often almost always more then once a day.

"So catholics can post here all say long and you say nothing."

The difference being Catholics don't post multiple daily posts attacking 7th Day Adventists to justify their religion. It seems an SDA thread can't be posted without attacking Catholics. Post all you want about your dopey church; just stop bashing Catholics to do it--if that's possible.

Cronos the Catholic has posted many anti-SDA threads, and posts within threads.
