Kennedy Center Sells Out Showings of ‘The King of Kings’ After Pride Month Events Were Canceled

The Kennedy Center began the month of June by debuting the Angel Studios hit film “The King of Kings,” an animated movie that goes through the life of Jesus. It comes after a week’s worth of events celebrating LGBTQ+ rights ahead the World Pride festival in Washington, D.C. were canceled.

The Center held two showings of the film on June 1 as part of its effort to revamp its family-focused programming to include more faith-based content. Both shows were a “huge success” and the event’s prayer wall was “completely full,” a spokesperson for The Kennedy Center told Breitbart News.

“Both shows completely SOLD OUT, proving what Kennedy Center President Ambassador Richard Grenell has been saying all along — the American people want to see more family-friendly programming,” the spokesperson said.

A synopsis of the film — which has 97 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes — states:

A father tells his son the greatest story ever told, and what begins as a bedtime tale becomes a life-changing journey. Through vivid imagination, the boy walks alongside Jesus, witnessing His miracles, facing His trials, and understanding His ultimate sacrifice. I hope all Christians and Jews are watchful about security.

I had forgotten that on Sunday, April 13, 2025, part of the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence was set on fire in an alleged arson while Governor Josh Shapiro and his family and friends were inside and in danger.
The photos show much more extensive damage than the early reports implied. Furniture, carpeting, books, walls and light fixtures were all blackened and ruined.
Most said he was singled out for being Jewish.

Two Jewish people at the Jewish Museum who were planning to be married later were shot dead in cold blood.

Now Jewish people quietly having a weekly vigil to call for the release of hostages were sprayed or doused and then set on fire by a man who hates “Zionists.”

Many pro-life offices have been vandalized and a few were set on fire. Some connected to Christian groups.

This is a time to be watchful.

The original movie was released back on October 11, 1961. I saw it while stationed at Cold Lake RCAF base in Alberta, Canada. It was an unforgettable movie, and the memory of watching it there has stayed with me over the years.
