Water, Rivers, and Streams in the Bible
Genesis 7:17-24

17 For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. 20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits.[a][b] 21 Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Oh LORD,
Our God,

I have been told, by somebody I trust, that the World-Famous Music College nearby teaches a course in how to write a song like Taylor Swift. At first I was horrified, thinking that to be akin to Harvard teaching a course in Cookie Recipes, but then I realized that I have been doing the same thing for years. Swift's early hit "Teardrops on my Guitar" uses four chords. They are the first four chords I teach the kids, and, although the boys want to learn a more robust Rock Song, the little girls are thrilled to have their first real guitar song be one by Taylor Swift.

What makes "Teardrops" unique is that it uses the same four chords, but they are played in three different sequences. The verses use G, Em, C, and D7. The "pre-chorus" uses E, C, G, D7. Finally, the chorus uses G,D7, Em, C. Same four chords, but three different sequences. That keeps the song from being repetitive. It's quite remarkable that, Swift wrote this song when she was very young. It's Copyright date is 2007, and I've been using it as an example since it came out. (Maybe I should be the one teaching that course!)

In an old episode of STAR TREK TNG, Captain Picard is stranded on a planet with a hostile alien who only speaks in metaphors. These metaphors are further complicated by the fact that they are based upon the mythology and history of the alien's home planet. His speech, though translated into English by Picard's computer, is totally nonsensical to Picard. Finally, Picard figures out how to communicate with the alien by relating the Story of Gilgamesh, and using it as a metaphor for their situation. The Epic of Gilgamesh is from Ancient Mesopotamia, and includes a Worldwide Flood.

Like the Story of Noah and the Flood, the same four "chords" are used: The Wickedness of Men, God's Judgment, a Worldwide Flood, and a hero who survives it. The sequence is different, but the elements are the same.

In Chinese writing, the word for "Garden" is pictured as an enclosed space divided by four rivers. That would seem to be the Garden of Eden. Here are some more remarkable "coincidences" that occur in Chinese Script.
