Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be Your Most Holy Name!
How We Long For Your Kingdom,
How We Wait For Your Will to be Done,
Here on earth, as it already is, in Heaven!
You Are Our Peace,
Our Wholeness,
Our Shalom,
Our Security,
Our Prosperity,
and Our Future.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,

There is a running joke around here that I hate Winter. I hated Winter even before I moved to Florida. In fact my hatred of Winter was one of the reasons I lived in Florida for 16 years. When Family Reasons brought me back to Massachusetts, I realized that I had forgotten how to drive in the snow, was less sure-footed on the ice, and had a lot less endurance in the cold. The shorter days and longer nights didn't bother me in Florida, because the streets were well-lit, and mostly ran in straight lines. Here, in semi-rural New England, The streetlights are few and far between, the roads are curvy, and everybody has their blinding High Beams on as a result. Driving at night in the Winter has become a real chore.

In Florida, the First Day of Spring didn't mean much. There were no crocuses peeking their heads through the snow, no Daffodils crowding the edges of the roads, and no "First Robin Sighting of The Year" to mark the day. However, up here, just South of Boston, those Events are practically a religious experience.

Many years ago, I greeted a Muslim Customer with a "Happy Eid" on one of his holidays. He thanked me, but then corrected me, saying that He was PERSIAN, not IRANIAN, and the only "Eid" Real Persians celebrate is The First Day Of Spring. He went further and explained that the evil government of Iran forced the people to celebrate Muslim holidays, and that he had been brought up Muslim, but that really wasn't who he was.

When The First Day of Spring arrived, I made sure I gave him a Joyous Greeting, even though, in Florida, the First Day of Spring is just like any other. The Robins have gone back North, but the Snowbirds stay on for another two months.

Here, I can see the days getting longer, one minuscule minute at a time. The Sunrise is a bit earlier, and the Sunset a little later. The streets, where they are not icy, are SALTY, and the freezing wind picks up the salt, getting it on everything. And, of course, the roads at night are dark, dark, dark. I think my Persian friend was onto something. The First Day of Spring really is "special".

Our journey through this World can be dark, slippery, cold, and acerbic, like a frozen desert of salt. A patch of "Black Ice", which is invisible at night, can send your vehicle smashing into a tree. Bright, Dazzling temptations lurk around every curve in the road, and, sometimes it seems to make more sense just to stay indoors and watch old movies. But, even then, you can run out of fuel, your pipes might freeze, the wind could bring down the Powerlines and leave you in the dark. Like I said, I HATE WINTER. /Rant Off.

In Today's Passage we see The Holy Spirit as being "The Hope of Righteousness". Like that First Robin, the First Crocus, the first yellow buds of the Forsythia Bush, there are signs and hints everywhere that The Holy Spirit is Here, Guiding and Leading, Teaching and Advocating, Nurturing and Strengthening. He is Leading Us In Paths of Righteousness For The Sake of His Name.

My Brother once asked me if I missed Florida. My Answer was:

"Only When I'm Shoveling Snow."

It's when things are at their darkest that The Holy Spirit shines His Light.
