Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Blessed is Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
and Omnipresent,
Wash us Clean, Oh LORD,
And Clothe Us In Your Righteousness.
Keep us in your care, Oh LORD,
And teach us to find our solace in You,
And Keep us from grumbling and stumbling.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
Happy New Year!

King James Version

Although I have been using The King James Version for this Series on the Names of God, I also have used the New American Standard Version, The New International Version, and a few other translations from time to time. I've tried to stick to actual translations of the Greek and Hebrew, rather than a paraphrase. It's too easy to insert one's own agenda into a paraphrase, and we see that a lot in cults. So, it's best to stick with Translations.
That being said, even Translations can run into problems. I recently saw a video, where the preacher on the podium urged his congregation to "Breathe In The Holy Spirit". At his urging, the congregation began to hyperventilate, trying to "inhale" The Holy Spirit, but not exhale. After all, they didn't want Him to escape! The spectacle was unsettling, to say the least! All that huffing and puffing made people dizzy. The dizziness was mistaken for the Anointing of the Holy Spirit, and it wasn't a pretty picture.
After all this talk about Wind, Breeze, and Breath, it might be tempting to preach this action, and see a large congregation act together in unison. It's like doing "The Wave" at a Football Game, or everybody turning on their lighters at a Rock Concert. It is impressive, exhilarating, and, yes, Powerful. I question though, if it's "Scriptural".
In Today's Passage, Jesus breathes on His Disciples and says:
"Receive ye The Holy Spirit". This is before Pentecost, that day when the Apostles were filled with The Holy Spirit and empowered to go forth.
In the Passage, it is Jesus Who is doing the breathing. There is no mention of the Disciples inhaling or exhaling. It is a totally sovereign act of Jesus, and the Disciples can only receive. I checked the other translations I use, and they agree. Receiving the Holy Spirit is an Act of God, not an act of my will.
That's the meaning of the word "Inspiration".
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Psalm 58
To the leader: Do Not Destroy. Of David. A Miktam.
1 Do you indeed decree what is right, you gods?*
Do you judge people fairly?
2 No, in your hearts you devise wrongs;
your hands deal out violence on earth.
3 The wicked go astray from the womb;
they err from their birth, speaking lies.
4 They have venom like the venom of a serpent,
like the deaf adder that stops its ear,
5 so that it does not hear the voice of charmers
or of the cunning enchanter.
6 O God, break the teeth in their mouths;
tear out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!
7 Let them vanish like water that runs away;
like grass let them be trodden down* and wither.
8 Let them be like the snail that dissolves into slime;
like the untimely birth that never sees the sun.
9 Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns,
whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!
10 The righteous will rejoice when they see vengeance done;
they will bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked.
11 People will say, ‘Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
surely there is a God who judges on earth.’
