Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be Your Most Holy Name!
We Worship You and You Alone. For You Alone Are Worthy
Of Glory, Honor, Worship and Praise!
Everlasting and Almighty God!

Abba, Father,
Our Hearts are filled with Wonder in Your Presence!
Let us not be distracted by all the chores and business of life
And keep us from "Cooking Up Schemes" to try and Force Your Hand.
Let us learn The Joy of Stillness,
Of Sitting at Your feet,
Or absorbing Your Wisdom into Our Hearts,
And Knowing You.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

The Book of Job is considered by most Scholars to be the Oldest Book of the Bible. From the Context, it has the feel of an Ancient Time, before God called Abraham out of Ur. Yet, there seems to be an almost innate sense of God's Existence, even among Primitive People. Job made sacrifices to a God Whose Name he didn't know. He also had a desire to intercede on behalf of his children, who seemed the be a partying crowd. Job didn't know if they were indulging in sin, but he prayed for them...just in case. Without Special Revelation, Job did his best to be "Righteous" under his own power.

Job's (alleged) Friends also had a primitive form of "religion" that was based upon "Cause and Effect". Like the concept of Karma, they believed that all suffering was the result of something you DID. When Job protested that he had done nothing wrong that he could think of, they called him a liar. They accused him of slandering God when he protested his innocence

We bristle at this, because we have the inside story. Job was being tested, not punished. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. For nearly thirty chapters in this difficult Book, the Three "Friends" yammer at Job, rebuke him, and call him a liar, even though the original purpose of their visit was to comfort him.

My heart goes out to Job during these Chapters, because something similar happened to me when my husband committed suicide 14 years ago. Several people, including his first cousins, wanted to know WHY that happened, and what I had done to cause him to take his own life. (Yeah. I know. Heinous). Anyway, it's all past, and I haven't heard from them since. I release them to Our Father for forgiveness. Sometimes that's all you can do.

The fourth "Friend" that shows up to give his two cents to Job is named Elihu. He is much younger, and so he has respectfully stood aside while the other three go after Job. Finally, he can stand it no longer and rebukes everybody for claiming to know the nature of God. Then, he proceeds to pontificate just like everybody else.

He does, however, get a few things right. Perhaps his primitive understanding of the Spiritual World is a little more developed than that of his elders. He calls The Holy Spirit "The Breath of The Almighty". That's pretty deep.

Finally, God intervenes and tells them they hall ALL missed the mark. God then displays an Incredible Panorama of His Creation, and revels in the Magnificence of the Stars, the Planets, the Galaxies, the Vast Ice-fields of the Earth, the Seas, the Whales, and even the Dinosaurs. God lovingly speaks of His Wonderful Creation, the Horse. He describes the Horse in fiery terms; it's strength, beauty, intelligence, and its freedom. God even describes the Horse Laughing with delight as he runs across the plains.

Overcome with this, Job repents of his protestations, and God restores everything to him and more.

I guess Job is not such a difficult Book after all.

Gotta admit, it took fourteen years before I felt comfortable sharing those little details.

This Thread had been ongoing for about a year when that happened to me. The FRiends on FR were wonderful, even in some ways eclipsing the comfort of my own family.

I will NEVER forget the kindness of the People on this Site.
