Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
We Praise Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
Teach us To Be Open to Opportunities,
And Teach Us Listen to Your Voice.
You Know Us Inside and Out,
And We Can Hide Nothing From You.
Thank You For the Counselors that You place in our lives
Teach us to discern which ones are good, and which ones are evil.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Happy New Year!

If you would like to be on or off the Daily Ping List, please let me know.

In 2011 I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. This was on top of every other horrible thing that happened to me that year. Fortunately, it's under control with a combination of Diet, Exercise, and a small amount of medication. I've not had a "flare-up" in fourteen years, Praise God.

However, the Holidays are tough for me, because I am a "Chocaholic". I LOVE Chocolate, in whatever form it takes. My beloved students always present me with gifts of Premium Chocolates, some of which are in massive amounts. Pralines, Creams, Marzipan, Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Sweet Chocolate, Bitter Chocolate, Cocoa Cream, Peach Cream, Mint Cream, Malted Milk Chocolate, and everything in between. If the money spent on Chocolate had been rolled into one Gift Card for the Guitar Center, I could probably buy a Brand New Made-In-The-USA Fender Stratocaster. But I know their hearts are in the right place, so I graciously accept their gifts, and put it all in the Freezer. This assures that I can only eat them one piece at a time, and burn a few calories in the process. Nevertheless, I ate the last piece a few days ago. Another Victory over Chocaholism, courtesy of the Freezer. As my dear Father-In-Law used to say "Everything in Moderation". And, as St. Paul said "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not." (1 Corinthians 10:23)

Some may say, "Chocolate is bad for you, especially if you have Diabetes! It could be fatal to give Chocolate to a Diabetic person! Chocolate should be Against The Law!"

I don't think anybody has ever actually initiated a bill to ban chocolate, but something similar happened in our Nation back in the 1920's. Alcohol was banned because of the devastation it wreaks among People who happen to be Alchololics. However, a vast number of people who weren't necessarily alchololics became lawbreakers in order have a beer or a glass of wine. An entire underworld of gangsterism evolved due to the Prohibition of Alcohol. A Constitutional Amendment was necessary to repeal Prohibition, but, unfortunately, the network of Organized Crime that it encouraged still exists.

There are some Churches that overemphasize the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, to the Detriment of the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. Remember, from this series, the Gifts are quite sensational: Tongues, Prophecy, Interpretation of Tongues, Healing, and Words of Knowledge and Wisdom. The "Fruit" of the Spirit is more introspective and subtle: Love, Joy, Peace, Faith, Patience, Gentleness, Goodness, Kindness, and Self-Control (Galatians 5:22-23)

Those qualities don't fill the pews or get you on TV. While it may be possible to engineer fake miracles and give false prophecies, it is impossible to "fake" the Fruit of the Spirit.

This has caused some ministries to emphasize the miraculous to the detriment of the true infilling of the Holy Spirit. It has caused some embarrassing scandals and humiliation for the Church as a whole.

Like those who would like to ban Chocolate, a number of Bible Scholars and ministers have insisted that The Gifts of the Spirit died with the Last Apostle. Others say that they ceased when the Canon of Scripture was finally decided. For whatever reason, these otherwise eloquent preachers have banned the practice of the Gifts of the Spirit in their Churches.

Paul doesn't advocate the banning (quenching) of the Gifts,. He tells us to test everything and hold fast to what is good. Of course there will be fakers and phonies who will try to wow us with their "giftedness". Put the Chocolates in the FREEZER. One by One, examine them in the light of the FRUIT of the Spirit. If they don't match up, then they are not of God. Keep the good, get rid of the bad.

By the Way, you can't put FRUIT in the Freezer. That has to stay out in a bowl for all to enjoy.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 112

1 Praise the Lord!
Happy are those who fear the Lord,
who greatly delight in his commandments.
2 Their descendants will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in their houses,
and their righteousness endures for ever.
4 They rise in the darkness as a light for the upright;
they are gracious, merciful, and righteous.
5 It is well with those who deal generously and lend,
who conduct their affairs with justice.
6 For the righteous will never be moved;
they will be remembered for ever.
7 They are not afraid of evil tidings;
their hearts are firm, secure in the Lord.
8 Their hearts are steady, they will not be afraid;
in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
9 They have distributed freely, they have given to the poor;
their righteousness endures for ever;
their horn is exalted in honour.
10 The wicked see it and are angry;
they gnash their teeth and melt away;
the desire of the wicked comes to nothing.

“Fermented Fruit”. Yeah. That explains the misspellings.

That’s the ticket.
