Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord Our God
King of Kings,
And Lord of Lords!
You Are The Forgiving God,
But You Will not leave the Unrepentant Evildoers Unpunished.
Your Justice and Holiness are Supreme.
And Yet, Your Lovingkindness is Everlasting.
Your Mercies Are New Every Morning.
You Alone are the One True Judge!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Happy New Year!

As I have mentioned many times, I have my own "Read the Whole Bible In A Year" Program that works very well for me. While some people may find it utterly confusing, because it involves eight different readings in eight different sections of the Bible, it works for me. Sometimes, however, I get a bunch of readings that bog me down a bit. Right now, as of today, I am in the latter part of Exodus in the Torah Section, 1 Chronicles in the History Section, Job in the Poetry Section, and Jeremiah in the Prophets Section. All FOUR of my OT Readings are in the densest, more difficult, and most depressing passages of the Bible. How did I get here?

The first 15 Chapters of Exodus are really exciting, with the Plagues, the Passover, and the Parting of the Red Sea. The second half of the book is mostly rules and regulations, and the design for the Tabernacle. It's still interesting, but not quite as exciting. 1 Chronicles has a lot of genealogies, and a list of lousy kings who lead Israel and Judah astray, culminating in the Destruction of Jerusalem. Jeremiah is all about that Destruction as well. And Job...well Job sits for many chapters trying to defend his innocence against three alleged "friends" who accuse him of everything under the sun.

I didn't plan on having these four bookmarks in these four books all at the same time. It just happened. I'm glad that in my study for Today's Thread that the Passage was 2 Timothy 3:16, to remind me that the authors of these Books, whether he be Moses, or Jeremiah, or even the unnamed author of Job and Chronicles, were writing under the Inspiration of The Holy Spirit. They were not "taking dictation", as their personality, style, and culture are evident in their writings. I can't explain it, but I can see it as I read. The authors are different, but the Inspiration is the same.

Now, it's possible that a character in the Bible will say something that isn't true. In that case, what the character says isn't inspired, but relating the fact that he said it is. A perfect example would be the "theology" expressed by Job's friends. They say all kinds of things about God, some of which sounds really pious and true. But God Himself rebukes them all in the end. The Holy Spirit inspired the author of the Book of Job to share these conversations, so that they can be refuted at the end of the Book...so stick with it to the end.

Paul recognized this Truth, and shared it with Timothy, a young pastor with a new church. Knowing this helps get through some difficult Passages that puzzle many people at first.

Nevertheless, I will be GLAD when I get to Psalms!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 32

Of David. A Maskil.

1 Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
2 Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

3 While I kept silence, my body wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up* as by the heat of summer.
Selah

5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not hide my iniquity;
I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord’,
and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
Selah

6 Therefore let all who are faithful
offer prayer to you;
at a time of distress,* the rush of mighty waters
shall not reach them.
7 You are a hiding-place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with glad cries of deliverance.
Selah

8 I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9 Do not be like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
whose temper must be curbed with bit and bridle,
else it will not stay near you.

10 Many are the torments of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.
11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy, all you upright in heart.
