I remember in the 70’s you could not pass a book rack without seeing this book.

I loved Hal. Used to be on a bulletin board he ran long, long ago. His biography is what brought my oldest sister back to Christ. She was in the hospital almost dead from severe diverticulitis and I gave her the book to read as she recovered. I’m always thankful for that. Looks like a hard to find book now, but it was called “The events that changed my life” and it details his life and when he worked as a riverboat captain. Rest in peace, Hal.
I always enjoyed reading his books and watching him on cable back in the day. Sad how most of my favoite theologians have since passed on. Rest in peace, Hal.

RIP Hal Lindsey. I really know nothing about him, but he was very famous not that long ago.
Christians and non-Christians alike are generally intrigued by end-days prophecies. This and the book's intersection with the "Jesus Movement" is what propelled the "Late Great Planet Earth" to be a perennial best-seller.
Despite some of the book's predictions/prophecies not coming to pass, the book still caused many people to research scripture and begin their journey in Chriast.

Probably a good man but the doctrine of the secret pretrib rapture is nowhere taught in the Bible. In fact, it’s roots are from the Jesuit teaching of Pretarism and futurism. Antichrist has already come.....(Antiochus Epiphanes) or Antichrist comes in the future after a rapture....some guy with 666 on his forehead or a computer chip.
The Bible is clear.....Antichrist is a religious massive monolithic institution and system that ruled the earth for 1260 years, suffered a wound, and now the wound has healed.
Anti Christ means in place of Christ. A pretender who claims to be God on earth, the Vicar of Christ. Vicar comes from Vacarious. She believes she can forgive sin and even change the law of God.....”times and law”....that the fourth commandment to the 3rd commandment....see her catechism.
The Jesuits know who she is and they had to come up with Pretarism and Futurism. Protestants, including Seventh day Adventists, the purest of protestants, adhere to “historicism”.....that is prophecy is fulfilled and later consummated. Matthew 24 is the perfect example.
Evangelicals of today are almost in total error on prophecy. No protestant reformer ever taught the nonsense of today that deceives millions. They knew who the great counterfeit was and is. and said so.
Severe diverticulitis almost killed me close to three years ago.
I remember that book being just about everywhere for a while as a kid.
