Did You Know? The ELCA’s Clergy Health Plan Covers Elective Abortions

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America occasionally puts its money where its mouth is, particularly when it comes to investing dollars in its deviltry and the values that are important to it. One example is the little-known fact that the denomination funds abortion services for its clergy through its health benefit plan.

Portico Benefit Services is a ministry of the ELCA that provides “comprehensive benefits to the rostered ministers and lay employees of the ELCA’s congregations, synods, and churchwide organization” to “help leaders strengthen their financial, emotional, and physical well-being.”

Completely self-funded by tithes and offerings, without the aid or intervention of outside insurance companies, Portico serves some fifty thousand individuals, having the freedom to provide tailored and unrestricted benefits in terms of medical, dental, vision, etc.

While congregants may think their weekly giving helps fund run-of-the-mill benefits for hearing aids, hospital stays, insulin, chemotherapy, etc., what many don’t know is that their dollars are also helping fund the murder of babies for abortion-minded clergy members and their families.

For pregnant ELCA clergy, not only do eligible medical expenses for preventive services include “oral contraceptives, emergency contraceptives (also called “morning-after” pills), intrauterine devices (IUD), sterilization, and contraceptive counseling,” but also the termination of pregnancies through abortifacient pills and surgery, as laid out in Portico’s Abortion and the ELCA Health Plan one sheet.

Along with covering abortion using pills like Mifepristone and Misoprostol, the ELCA will pay for all surgical abortion procedures well into the second trimester, no questions asked, and will also cover late-term abortions in some exceptions.

Also:

While the ELCA doesn’t presently provide travel benefits to obtain abortion services in other states when abortion-minded leaders face restrictions on their own, given how important abortion is to them and the ways in which they practically idolize it, it’s likely only a matter of time.

This does not surprise me.

This is not new. I was an ELCA member back in the early 90s, but active in the righ-to-life movement. I brought this to the attention of my liberal then-pastor. Needless to say he was not happy to have his church’s hypocrisy exposed to him.

I’m shocked it has been going on that long. Yea I know these churches did not go liberal overnight but dawg this is really worse than I thought.

Some alleged Christian Denominations have joined Satan’s Army ... so they must think Jesus would approve of them supporting the slaughtering babies.

Maybe they can get the mobile abortion clinic from the Democrat Convention, and set it up in the church parking lot. The pastors won’t be inconvenienced, and they can make a statement of faith to boot.

“Some alleged Christian Denominations have joined Satan’s Army ... so they must think Jesus would approve of them supporting the slaughtering babies.”

Not just “slaughtering babies”. It brings into question when the soul is ‘implanted’ in human bodies. If it is pre-birth, these minions of Satan are also thwarting God by destroying the chance of human life for all of those souls and preventing them from living the life that God planned for them.

I posit that these cretins pretending to be Christians don’t worship or revere God and don’t believe in the concept of the eternal soul. Funny that nobody ever even bothers to ask them that question... when I would think it is a key component of true Christian faith.

Not surprising. I left the ELCA back in 2005 because of their out-of-control liberalism.

I didn't know because I never thought about it before.

But of course it does. Why wouldn't it?

Yeah, no they're not.
