Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent,
How Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
We Lift Up Your Name and Worship You,
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Most HIGH!
LORD of HOSTS,
Ancient of Days,
Lion of Judah,
Rock of Ages,
El Shaddai,
Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent,
You Know the End from the Beginning
And the Beginning From The End.
Righteous and True,
Just and Holy,
There is No Shadow of Turning With You,
Even When We Are Unfaithful,
You Remain Faithful,
And Your Laws, Precepts, Judgments,
and Promises are PERFECT and Forever TRUE.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

My Mom loved the TV Show "Law and Order". She especially loved the character of Det. Lenny Briscoe, played by Jerry Orbbach.. His clever, brash, New York City Sarcasm appealed to her. She was very saddened when the Actor passed away in 2004. She felt that it changed the whole character of the show when "My Jerry" was replaced.

A very interesting tactic that Detective Briscoe used when dealing with suspects was to interview them separately. Too much agreement, especially a turn of a phrase, or a descriptive adjective, would indicate collusion among the suspects. Det. Briscoe could tell right away if they had agreed upon a "story" beforehand, and that there was collusion involved. A far more reliable testimony would tell the same story, but from different viewpoints. What would seem to be contradictions would merely mean that each eyewitness had a different perspective. The FACTS would emerge from the blending of the several viewpoints. It was like the story of the Six Blind Men and the Elephant, which we looked at a few days ago. The Elephant has always been, and will always be, the Elephant, even if six people perceived it differently.

One of the most intriguing thing about the Four Gospels is that they all say the same thing, in different ways. There are certain Facts that emerge from these Four Viewpoints: The Virgin Birth, the Ministry of Jesus, the Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus, and the Presence of The Holy Spirit. Sometimes He is referred to as "The Holy Ghost", Sometimes "The Holy Spirit", and sometimes as the "Spirit". In this Passage from Luke, we see two of those Names.

In Matthew, Mark, and Luke, we see the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, and the Miraculous Manifestation of All Three Persons of the Trinity: The Son (Jesus) coming up out of the water, The Father as a Voice announcing Him as His Beloved Son, and The Holy Spirit, descending in the Form of a Dove.

It is from this point that Jesus sets out to the Wilderness of Judea (still a very rugged area) to prepare for His Ministry. He fasts for 40 Days, and is tempted in all the ways we are: Physical, Mental, and Spiritual. It is because Jesus went through this that He can identify with OUR struggles.

"Well, that's easy for Him to say, He's GOD!" one might ask. That's a legitimate question, because, if we accept that Jesus is also God, then where does it leave you and me?

Luke gives us a clue in his testimony about the story. He says that, after His Baptism, Jesus was "Full of The Holy Ghost". It was the Infilling of the Holy Ghost that gave Jesus the strength He needed to resist the onslaught of the devil. And you can bet, the devil dished out everything he had to defeat Jesus. And yet, Jesus prevailed, due to the fact that He was "filled with the Holy Ghost".

Jesus allowed Himself to be vulnerable, as vulnerable as any other human being, and derived His Power at this point from the Holy Ghost within Him. This is another one of those Mysteries that is beyond our human understanding. St Paul expresses this in Philippians 2:

…6. Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7. but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross.… (Berean Standard Bible)

Because Jesus "emptied Himself", he was able to give us a Lesson on resisting Temptation. We need to be Filled with The Holy Spirit in order to have that Power. If not, we are just trying to use Will-Power, The Restrictions of "Law and Order", or even Fear to resist Temptation. These patterns of behavior are no match for the Evil One, and will always end up in defeat.

Jesus was able to have Victory over the devil, using the Word of God, Supplied by the Infilling of the Holy Spirit.

It took Luke, the Beloved Physician, to understand Human Nature, and make sure he included the Infilling of The Holy Ghost in his corroborating testimony.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

Psalm 63

A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah.

1 O God, you are my God, I seek you,
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands and call on your name.

5 My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast,*
and my mouth praises you with joyful lips
6 when I think of you on my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7 for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.

9 But those who seek to destroy my life
shall go down into the depths of the earth;
10 they shall be given over to the power of the sword,
they shall be prey for jackals.
11 But the king shall rejoice in God;
all who swear by him shall exult,
for the mouths of liars will be stopped.
