Today’s Sermon builds on the Gospel of the Pharisees accusations that
Jesus’ Disciples are not following the ritual dietary laws.
He teaches us in scripture that the sin that defiles our being,
comes from within- from our hearts..
and from anything that is exterior to us.

The Goodness- and Dangers- Of The Law
Jesus himself was an observant Jew, and the themes and images of the Holy Scriptures were elemental for him. And he presented himself as the one who would not undermine the Law and the prophets but fulfill them.
All of those social and religious conventions that had effectively divided Israel, he sought to overcome and to expose as fraudulent. He reached out to everyone: rich and poor, healthy and sick, saints and sinners. And he embodied the obedience of Israel: “I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me”; “My food is to do the will of the one who sent me.”

Why bother with Catholicism, if even the atheist can be saved?

Barron needs prayers; not publicity and daily promotions from his fawning groupies.

What Jesus was objecting to was the additions to the Law that the pharisees were imposing on people, that resulted in alienating them from God instead of drawing them closer to Him.

Upon thinking about it, the danger is not the Law but how it’s used or related to and also if it’s a means to an end or made into the end itself.
And in that case, that’s when people start adding to it in hair splitting about things like the pharisees did, what is work on the Sabbath, how far can you walk and not break the Sabbath, washing hands and dishes etc as Jesus mentioned, and so on.
All one needs to do is read what Jesus had to say about the pharisees handling of the Law and it’s easy to see the pitfalls to avoid.
FWIW, the author is also correct that sin comes from within.
It is conceived in the heart long before it is born in the actions.
There you go again with your slander rather than defending the homosexualist bishop you so love to promote.

You, like the Pharisees, put a burden on people to keep them from Christ.
What you promote is the opposite of what Jesus died for.
You defend a bishop who dares hope Hell is empty, that Jews don't need Christ for salvation, and who states the Supreme Court should not reverse it's ruling on allowing sodomite marriages.
Are you really a Catholic? If not, give up your pretense.
