In don’t have a problem with more casual attire for church, but am sick of seeing women and girls dressed like hookers.

For both men and women, what’s fit for the beach (maybe) is NOT fit for church. Sometimes what’s worn at the beach isn’t even decent enough for the beach.

Watch some YouTube videos of street scenes in the '40s, '50s, and even '60s. The fashions change but you don't see a bunch of slobs.

Such deception hid who they truly were. People may not like to see unrestrained wardrobes but there's something to be thankful when the cover shows you exactly what the book is about.

I'd rather not live amongst actors and actresses wearing attire from the wardrobe department. No, let people freely show how they think and feel.

The only way to Heaven is through Jesus. He cares more about your eternal soul than clothes.

Church is not Walmart.

My previous “pastor” looked at my feet and said; “flip flops? Really?”

I smiled and replied; “Sandals! Jesus wore them!”

This, at the big screen, skin tight skinny jeans (with holes, by the hip-hop jumping “worship team”) and smoke machines. Music so loud that before you walk in there’s a basket with disposable foamy ear plugs and gun range quality full ear muffs. Topical teaching with vulgar humor, worldly motivational speech teachings and a little Jesus sprinkled in.

Jesus isn’t ashamed of me.

I recall a story that Chuck Swyndol told, which goes something like this;

One day, after church, a group of older ladies approached him and requested that he address the attire of the younger ladies, asking that they should wear pantyhose, or nylons. Chuck’s reply was; “Well ladies, fashions change with time. There once was a time when the only ladies who wore those were prostitutes”.
That ended that conversation and the matter was promptly closed.

Fashions vary by region. In Hawaii, business attire is a luau shirt, not a suit.
In Florida, flippies ARE shoes.

Like most people of the time, except maybe Pharisees, I suspect Jesus had maybe one change of clothes. Remember when he told his disciples “If you have an extra tunic...”

That means most of them had one dusty dirty smock that they likely wore for weeks between washings.

I once knew a guy who told me that at one point he was basically destitute. He went to a large local church to ask for some food. Instead they invited him to church and offered to buy him a suit. He didn’t need a suit, he needed a job and some food.

I’m pretty sure Jesus dressed in rags and doesn’t care if I wear a tuxedo or not

At the time of his crucifixion, Jesus’ garment was well made and the Roman soldiers cast lots (threw dice) to see who would have it.

I was staying with family in Ireland years ago & the only clean pants I had were sweat pants which I thought were my get of jail free card. My cousin said, “the Lord doesn’t care what you wear, just that you’re there.” I went to church.

I see people all the time in church who are dressed poorly, but I am just pleased they’re there. I think God is too.

I was the guest speaker for a Boys Christian Adventure group a couple years ago. The theme of my talk was that real men don’t wear flip flops, precisely for the reason you mention. Our job is to protect others and we cannot do that if our feet are not properly shod. (eph 6:15)

I told how I’ve stopped at car crashes and ran into burning buildings to help others. If I were wearing flip flops, all I could do would be to stand outside with my camera, along with all the other useless people.

We need to be constantly prepared to serve others (Gal 6:10)

Like Corey Comparatore, who laid down his life because he was prepared to protect his daughter and wife.

If I’m anywhere but the beach and I see men’s toes I don’t go back there. Natures way of saying stay away

As at the beach I am certain that Jesus’ sandals were area appropriate and that He kept His feet in witness appropriate condition

Disclaimer: I didn’t watch video n can only imagine…
All the way back to the Baltimore Catechism: “avoid the near occasion of sin”. Yours and others. Women should not dress so as to cause others to sin.

Clean feet with manicured nails obviously goes without saying 😃

Ladies can have some nasty feet also.
We’ve seen ghet-toes

Those women are not going to church to meet the Son, but to meet the new baby daddy.

Our Priest calls it out often. He doesn’t specifically target a person but makes it known, that in the House of God, a sacred place, we should look and act the part.

There are tube tops, bad looking feet, nasty old jeans, graphic T shirts etc

Those are secondary

And if anyone tries to bs their way out of sandals which they always wear and NOT because Jesus wore them but because they don’t care, by saying ‘it’s what Jesus wore’ it’s worse

Like the SS blaming the butler police worse

The church I attend is pretty casual. The only issue I have on current church attire is younger women not understanding that revealing clothing can be a problem for some men. I know fashions have changed but there are lines which shouldn’t be crossed.

I don’t mind t-shirts or blue jeans or even decent shorts and flip flops. I want our church to be a place where anyone with any background can feel they are welcome and loved in their journey toward Jesus. And it is. We have lawyers and nurses and former drug addicts, and even people who have served time.

My wife is 67 and still has an amazing hour glass figure. She just doesn’t wear tight clothes, and hasn’t since she was born again at age 25. Just as when Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, the Spirit of God convicts the soul of unrighteous behavior.

I remember seeing men stare at her when she wore tight slacks and jeans. She realized that she was causing men to lust, and took steps to avoid that. Good for her.

For years she described bikinis as industrial grade underwear. When yoga pants became the rage she said, “those are just industrial grade pantyhose”.
