Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
How beautiful , How Lovely, and How Holy!
You Alone Are Worthy Of Praise,
For You Alone Are Holy,
You Alone Are Worthy,
And You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham.

The nun quietly stepped into the classroom at St. Raphael's School in Hyde Park MA. The class was a "Release-Time" religion class that was allowed by the City of Boston's Public Schools, to send kids to be instructed in the religion of their parent's choice. The Sixth Graders sat quietly as the nun whispered something in the teacher's ear. Suddenly, the teacher turned pale and started shaking. She turned to the class and said:

"Go straight home, RIGHT NOW. The President's been SHOT."

The dazed and confused kids piled out of the classroom and went to the Bus Stop in front of the "Spa" (a drugstore with a soda counter) and joined the milling crowd who were murmuring "The President's been shot." We boarded a bus, which was already crowded, and we saw people crying, saying over and over: "The President's been shot."

Everybody knew it, but nobody had actually seen it happen. The event had taken place halfway across the country, in Dallas Texas, in the afternoon when everybody was at work or school. All we had was the testimony of others, and only a few of those were actually eyewitnesses.

Then, something emerged that made us ALL eyewitnesses, at least to the actual assassination: The Zabruda Film.

Now, I have to point out here that my family loved JFK. My Mom's Sister-In-Law's family were the Domestic Staff at the Hyannis Compound, and some of my younger siblings wore clothing passed down from Caroline. So this was a BIG DEAL. Although my family's connection was closer than most of America, I'll be willing to bet that nearly everyone reading this remembers where they were that day...unless you are a whole lot younger than I am. BUT, I may add, except for the Zabruda film, we were NOT eyewitnesses. Only the people who were IN Dallas, on that section of the street, who happened to be looking at the motorcade, at that particular moment in time, can be legitimately called "eyewitnesses". The rest of us only have what we can see in the film, what we've been told, and what we remember at the time. Perhaps that is why so many alternate theories have emerged in sixty years.The mere fact that nearly ALL of us got our information second-hand leaves us all with a slightly different memory of the event.

The same can be said about the tragedy of 9/11/01. However, there were many of us who watched it in REAL TIME on TV, so it was a little different from viewing the Zabruda Film after the fact.

A friend of mine was actually at the World Trade Center, outside the Marriott, and watched it unfold before his eyes. (He was one of the hundreds of people covered in dust, running from the towers as they collapsed).

Jeff was a REAL Eyewitness. He was my agent, and when other agents were late paying me, I would say:

"The only time JEFF ever was a little late paying me was when he was stuck in NYC after 9/11. He was at the World Trade Center when it happened. WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE?"

(That usually worked.)

In this Passage of Scripture from the Book of Acts, Peter is defending his Faith. He calls Jesus "The Prince of Life" and he testifies to the Resurrection. While Peter wasn't an actual eyewitness to the probably BLINDING process of Jesus rising from the Dead, he saw Him right afterward, complete with the nail holes and the gaping wound of the spear that had pierced his heart.

Peter wasn't the only eyewitness to the Resurrected Jesus. There were at least eleven disciples, Mary Magdalene, and, according to various Scripture Passages, About 500 People.

That's a LOT of People!
