Pharaoh is troubled by two disturbing dreams, which no one can explain to him. But Joseph can, and he does: God is using those dreams to reveal what He is about to do. Seven years of abundance will precede seven of famine.
God is also using those dreams to vault their interpreter into power. Joseph recommends that Pharaoh appoint a wise steward, and Pharaoh reasons that Joseph is that man.
