I used to interact with Catholics a lot back in the mid 70's to 1980 or so. I lived a few hundred feet from The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis.

There is no way the priests and sisters that I came to know would believe what has happened to the church, they would have been aghast.

That was really not that long ago... how has this all changed so fast?

I did a streetview and here's a pic of my old apartment, the arrow points to my room.. I could see the dome of the cathedral from my bedroom window... it is an architectural marvel, a divine edifice.

At the time the Central West End of St Louis was a safe place to live... not so much now. I live about 100mi from there now but do not visit, it's just not safe. :-/
