I don't know what the results would be, but a more fair comparison would be to compare Liberty to other large private universities in areas without decent scheduled service. Lynchburg is a 3 hour drive to Dulles, for example, a bit more to Reagan. Baylor (the closest match I could think of), on the other hand, is a little over half that to DFW. BYU is about 45 minutes to the Salt Lake City airport (that's local by Texas standards).
That’s a good point. I used to fly a beechjet for Florida State recruiting. They did not own the plane, they leased it from the company I flew for. During recruiting season you would see University jets from every big school. They all owned a small fleet of aircraft.
