I used to listen to Evans radio program 40 years ago and liked him a lot. I'm not sure if all of these theological stances developed since then, or were just suppressed from the public, but he had always been a Christian role model for the black community, stressing permanent marriage and celibacy beforehand, responsible Christian living, and a disdain for popular black ghetto culture, including the degradated language.
His church was large and thriving and included a LOT of white congregants. I visited to listen to David Wilkerson as a guess preacher once.
