6/6: "Close Your Eyes and See" (D-Day is Blind Day in Israel)
Misc | June 6, 2024 | Misc

Posted on 06/06/2024 7:49:29 AM PDT by Ezekiel

The date of the Day is based upon the metric equivalent of 20/20 (ft), 6/6 m.

On 6 June, "Blind Day" was marked, a day for enhancing awareness and empathy with the blind and visually impaired community in Israel.

The Office of the State Comptroller and Ombudsman absorbs into its ranks people with special needs in general, and blind and visually impaired persons in particular.

"Blind Day" - Day of awareness and empathy with the blind and visually impaired in Israel

There is no English-language Wikipedia page for Blind Day -- only Hebrew -- but the auto-translation provides:

Nature of activity

The "Thinking in Color" group initiated the idea of Blind Day, and this day is officially marked in Israel every year on June 6, with the intention that on June 6, all citizens of the country can think in color even if they do not see 6/6, in addition to this day, International Vision Day is held on October 11 every year.

Every year, Blind Day follows the slogan: "Close your eyes -- and see!" thinking that even when you don't see 6/6, you can think in color. As part of the day, which is led by the Center for the Blind in Israel, a variety of activities dealing with blindness are held, both by many associations and organizations for the blind, which deal daily with improving the lives of blind people in Israel, and through partnerships with the private and public sectors. The activities emphasize sensory activation that is not based on vision, in order to highlight and show the capability and abilities of the blind and visually impaired community in Israel. The blind day events reach their peak as part of the Knesset marking Blind Day, in which meetings are held in the various committees on issues that may improve and promote the rights and status of people with blindness/visual impairments and their integration into society.

Blind Day

The name of the Day is literally "Blind Day" -- English, transliterated to Hebrew:

בליינד דיי

blind: בליינד
day: דיי

As such, the name contains a couple of vision-related word plays:

1. The sum of the phrase "Blind Day" = 130, the same as the word for "eye", ayin: עין. This is also the name of the letter ayin [ע], which is the letter for 70.
2. The word "Day" = 24. 24 hours in a day.

The light was the first thing to receive a name: "Day". On a Day:

The light of the first three days of Creation has been an enduring enigma because the luminaries were not apparently created until the 4th Day. This special light that was announced in the third verse of the Torah is variously called the Hidden Light (Ohr haGanuz), the First Light (Ohr Rishon), or the Messianic Light (Ohr Mashiach).

Here is an extreme contraction-explanation:

When did G-d create light

By Eliezer Danzinger

Question:

If you look at Genesis, you will see that G-d created light on Day One. However, Scripture also says that G-d created the sun, moon, stars, etc. on Day Four. So what was this light then that was created on Day One?

Answer:

The Talmud1 cites two views. One is that the light created on Day One was extremely brilliant, but G-d foresaw that the world was undeserving of it, so He concealed this light for the righteous in the hereafter. According to the second opinion, however, the light created on Day One was in fact the light from the luminaries -- which were then "hung in the sky" on Day Four.

Rabbi Eliezer Danzinger for Chabad.org

Put together with "Blind Day" as a "דיי", versus the normal Hebrew day [yom, יום], this Day (light) appears in the account of the first three days of Creation, in a pattern formed by the end of the verses, on the day "names".

"Day" as דיי is spelled out by the end letter of each day. This occurs because Day One is not documented as an ordinal day (which would be yom rishoN, יום ראשון), but rather as a cardinal day, Day One (yom echaD, יום אחד).

Day One = יום אחד
second day = יום שני
third day = יום שלישי

Torah scrolls start a new line for each of the days. Examples here and here.

Also as marked here in the parallel Hebrew-English format.

Another word play involves a "what if". What if Day One had been listed ordinally, as if there were already a day with which to compare it? (The Vilna Gaon explains)

The spelling result would have been ןיי, which is wine [יין] in reverse, like a 3, 2, 1 countdown. Those who are familiar with the backdown concepts in this study will recognize the wine connection to a secret and 70.

Here's a main event:

The Na Laga'at (Please Touch) Center, a non-profit arts and cultural center in Jaffa that has created a meeting place for deaf, blind and deaf-blind individuals as well as the general public, is presenting a special program called Blind Day, from June 4-6.

The center, which includes a theater, a restaurant, an event complex and a workshop, is holding this event with the slogan, "Close your eyes -- and see!"

The idea is to hold activities and events that are staged in ways that mimic blindness, so people without visual challenges can experience aspects of what blind people go through.

Among the events will be the center's flagship production, "Not on Bread Alone," which features 11 deaf-blind actors who take the audience on a journey in their unique world, mixing the realms of darkness, silence, and baking bread.

The show is based around the process of kneading the dough, letting it rise, and baking it on stage. The ensemble rehearsed this production for two years before bringing it to the stage, and it presents a unique sensory experience, demonstrating different ways of communication.

A permutation of Blind Day is

יין ביד ילד

"Wine in the hand of a child"

Genesis 37:3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

Eyes are called the windows to the soul, which is one way of explaining [through closed eyes] why Joseph had been sent down to Egypt in order to work on a Great Deliverance project:

Rapid eye movement sleep (REM sleep or REMS) is a unique phase of sleep in mammals (including humans) and birds, characterized by random rapid movement of the eyes, accompanied by low muscle tone throughout the body, and the propensity of the sleeper to dream vividly.

Rapid eye movement sleep (REM)

"Close Your Eyes and See"

("Everyone knows" that unicorns don't exist, so how could they end up in Joseph's blessing. Deu 33:17 Re'em, ראם)

Genesis 37:20 Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

More HERE on "thinking in color" (CMYK, painting), as it relates to the first light of Creation. Post 23 contains a more specific diagram.

For example, the black "key" center space (where all the light is concentrated) has an area of 241 [רמ"א] units.

The first place in the Torah for a word that = 241 [רמ"א] is the verb spelled with the same letters as the numeral:

אמר:

1:3 And God said, "Let there be light: and there was light."

(In modern times, "אמר" appears as the beginning of this famous place: אמריקה)

Among the events will be the center’s flagship production, “Not on Bread Alone,”...

I'm on a roll today!

I always find the best stuff just by wandering down some odd, seemingly unrelated trail. Folks really miss out, but I can share because we're all FRiends here, right? 🤗

"(Please Touch) Center", and look what happened when I did that, look what popped up:

Character

Originally named "Jonathan Pillsbury", the doughboy was given a scarf, a chef's hat, and two big blue eyes to distinguish him from the rolls, as well as a faint blush and a soft, warm chuckle when poked on the belly. The Doughboy was originally designed by Milt Schaffer

Voice actor Paul Frees was chosen to be Fresh's voice.

>>>

Voiced by Paul Frees (1965–1986)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pillsbury_Doughboy

Solomon Hersh Frees (June 22, 1920 – November 2, 1986), better known as Paul Frees, was an American actor, comedian, impressionist, and vaudevillian. He is known for his work on Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Walter Lantz, Rankin/Bass and Walt Disney theatrical cartoons during the Golden Age of Animation, and for providing the voice of Boris Badenov in The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.[1] Frees was known as "The Man of a Thousand Voices", though the appellation was more commonly bestowed on Mel Blanc.[2]

Early life

Solomon Hersh Frees was born to a Jewish family in Chicago, Illinois, on June 22, 1920.

>>>

Frees's early radio career was cut short when he was drafted into the United States Army during World War II, where he fought at Normandy, France, on D-Day.[6] He was wounded in action and was returned to the United States for a year of recuperation.

So there you have it. I make a joke but then no joke, it turns out that the original Pillsbury Doughboy was not only born Jewish (but of course), the Doughboy literally survived D-Day before he could rise.

Not by Bread Alone

Eleven deaf-blind actors take the audience on a magical tour in the districts of their inner world; the world of darkness, silence and... bread.

If anybody might actually wonder why I stay like this, it's because

there's no going back!

Poppin' really got around:

>>>

He voiced the unseen "Ghost Host" at Haunted Mansion Attraction at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. For the Pirates of the Caribbean, Frees recorded the ghost voice saying the iconic "dead men tell no tales" used in the ride...

Frees also provided narration for the Tomorrowland attraction Adventure Thru Inner Space (1967–1985, later replaced by Star Tours) and the original Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Audio clips from the attractions in Frees's distinctive voice have been included in fireworks shows at Disneyland...

He was also Hocus Pocus, the traffic cop, the ticket-taker, and Santa Claus in Frosty the Snowman in 1969 and played the central villain, Burgermeister Meisterburger, and his assistant Grimsley in Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town in 1970.

And so many more!

"Get da brat outta here!"

(warm chuckle)

(You know the Heat Miser and the Snow Miser were both Jewish, right? Makes sense, same mother. They listened to their mother.)

🏃‍♀️. . . . .
