I do wonder if the state of the Church doesn’t falsify governance by the Hiky Spirit.
Has anyone ever claimed that the Holy Spirit “governs” the Church? Considering all the bad popes and schisms and screwups over the centuries, it’s pretty obvious that “governs” would be a real stretch. Benedict 16 used to say that at best we can say that the Holy Spirit prevents things from going completely off the rails.
