Pontius Pilate doesn't know what to do with Jesus. He doesn't find Him worthy of death, but that is what the Jews are demanding; Pilate even offers to release Him--but the Jews are insistent. So, Pilate tries a half-measure: he orders that Jesus be flogged.

Heartbreaking moment of the Passion.
Thank you for the stained glass windows. The works that stand out for me are #11 Caravaggio and
#16 Bouguereau, considered one of the masterpieces of the artist, together with his magnificent but disturbing painting of Dante and Virgilio arriving at a plane of Hell.
In the flagellation, among the tormentors, a bearded face is seen, the artist has placed himself among the crowd to witness with us this horrendous moment. Too painful to watch the body of Christ, almost lifeless, feet dragging on the floor, suffused with the pallor of death.

LOL! 6:00 p.m. It seems like it’s the remnant in attendance. But God knows who should be there. All is not in vain. I have been taken to the woodshed as I prepare . . . It has been evident that I’ve done too much surface Bible reading over the years.
