After Jesus' trials before Annas and Caiaphas, the Jews drag Jesus in front of Pontius Pilate. He interrogates Jesus and then sends Him to King Herod. Jesus provides Herod with neither the answers he wants to hear nor the miracles he wants to see, so he returns Jesus to Pilate--who disappoints the Jews by refusing to condemn Jesus to death.

#11 by Dore’ stands out. Large scale painting, depicting Christ leaving the Court, calmly walking toward his fate. It masterfully shows Jesus’ humanity and divinity. The figures surrounding Jesus show their emotions of disbelief and curiosity. Timeless masterpiece reminding us of the immense sacrifice he willingly undertook for mankind.
