Itβs not my Catholic Church anymore. I wonder how long it will be before Frances endorses abortionβ¦
Nor mine. However, with regard to fertility treatments being "inconsonant with dignity," there are a whole lot of medical procedures that throw dignity overboard. Colonoscopy comes to mind. The "argument from dignity" recalls the objections to assisted childbirth, caesareans, and anaesthesia. Not to mention the occasional reports of parents letting children die rather than accept medical treatment, out of religious conviction. If a death can be prevented -- or a life brought into the world -- I say call the doctors.
They possess the buildings, the institutions, and in most peopleβs minds, the name Catholic. But they have apostasized. Those who hold the faith as it was taught before Vatican II are the true Catholics. Nothing since Vatican II binds the Catholicsβs conscience
I had nine years of Dominican nuns in Kindergarten through eighth grade and four years of Jesuit priests in high school with each school day starting with morning Mass.
I can’t go to another church, but I might stop being Catholic.
Iβm totally with you.
Pontifical Academy for Life” We know Francis gutted the academy and turned it into a travesty that is enthralled by the culture of death.
Depriving yourself of the Sacraments is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. It is enough to not intellectually and by practice endorse or participate in any of the shenanigans the current Church hierarchy is enamored to. This too shall pass.
The US Catholic Bishops and Catholic Charities have accepted government money for years for human and child sex trafficking. They are turning children over to completely anonymous “sponsors” as fast as they can collect payment.
I am beginning to believe that supporting the Catholic Church in any way is now a sin.
You don’t need to give money to those causes, or even to the bishop’s annual appeal. Lord knows I don’t. I belong to a solid local parish with traditionally-minded pastor and I see where my money goes.
I will be so happy when Frank sheds these mortal coils... hopefully after a short but painful battle with terminal something.
Is that wrong?
I’d say so. I’d prefer that God would lead him to repentance or, failing that, to find a way to (sooner rather than later) end this pontificate in a way of His merciful and just choosing.
Thanks for helping me make my decision.
“Better that only a few Catholics should be left, staunch and sincere in their religion, than that they should, remaining many, desire as it were, to be in collusion with the Church’s enemies and in conformity with the open foes of our Faith.”
-St. Peter Canisius, Doctor of the Church
The reason I am done is because of virtue-signaling holier-than-thou schlubs like you.
I can just see you in bygone times standing at the front of the temple telling God how much better your offering is than that of the poor widow in the back.
What, exactly, about my answer would make you say that?
If that’s wrong, I don’t wanna be right!
But it is your Church. We the faithful are called to stand and fight for it, no matter the cost, no matter how hopeless it seems.
Just as we Americans are called to stand and fight to restore our great Nation.
Don’t hand Evil his victory.
