Jesus had already come and finished His mission when Revelation was penned.
You are evading my point. I gave you an instance, Rev. 1:1, which is supremely pivotal, that you refuse to take literally. If you take one literally, then all has to be taken literally.
The language of Revelation is hardly literal. Do you really think that blood will flow up to horses bridle? That a two million man army will sweep through modern day Israel? (No leader today would dare gather an army of that size; they could be vaporized with nuclear weapons). That locust will torment manking for five months? That stars will literally fall to the Earth?
There is a literal key of David mentioned in the Old Testament, but has a totally different connotation in Revelation. 99.9% of the concepts in Revelation, including the poetic imagery, comes from the Old Testament.
Revelation was written to the Christians of that day because John was giving them comfort and a warning. And he had to do it in such a fashion to get around the Roman government spies that were embedded all over. He couldn’t just say Nero, since it would have gotten them all killed; he used 666. The spies were clueless, like most people today.
By the way, apocalyptic literature was the most popular genre at that time. They all had the same basic heavenly imagery, plot lines, etc. There are numerous ones still extant.

When did Nero declare that all people, great and small take his mark in order to buy or sell? And how would he have enforced that? Now consider the current situation, where digital currency and ID enable that exact scenario.

Rev. 1:1 is before the vision starts. It has to be taken literally and everything else has to ordered by that. I am not an expert on that book. It does contain prophesy, such as the Great White Throne Judgement, etc. that is alluded to in the book of Daniel.

The early Christians thought it referred to Nero.
As for the mark — that was in place in Rome. The emperor was proclaimed to be a god and everyone had to go down the the local “courthouse” and swear fealty to him or they could not do business. Sometimes they had to do some kind of sacrifice.
“...for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” was a line taken off a Roman coin that referred to the emperor and applied to Jesus. It was a taunt to the emperor.
And you call yourself a Christian? Which apostate denomination do you belong to?
