If we are, in fact, nearing the collapse of our constitutional republic, people will look back someday at the causes, and almost not believe them.
Yet I have watched the USA sink deeper and deeper in the quicksand of decadence over a period of about fifty years.
Even during the Jimmy Carter Administration, when I recognized the decay for what it is and bought and read a three volume edition of Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, I could not imagine the madness afflicting America today.
At the time I bought these books, I said that I wanted to know what was in store for us, but I said it half in jest.
I could not imagine such absurdities--and such horrors--actually coming to the USA. I did not think the American People would stand for it. I was convinced that the core of America was far too sturdy and healthy. I couldn't imagine standards lowered ubiquitously as they have been. I couldn't imagine university professors, judges and lawyers, and journalists so lost, so confused both intellectually and morally.
I still find it difficult to believe, and yet: here it is.
Can the decadence be reversed? Only the American People can save the USA. No one else can do it.
Pray that they will awaken.
