this passage leaves a little confusion in Bible studies
there is no way that Jacob can overpower God or His angels
no contest
in fact, it is a delight to see some of the artwork portraying the angel in more of a dancing posture and calm expression
the stress is all on Jacob's end

Perseverance, determination,,Jacob knew it was God he wrestled with, and he refused to give up until God blessed him. He didn’t deserve the blessing and was willing to face whatever judgment or consequence was necessary to receive it.
He was left lame but Jacob had his blessing.
