Female lectors in the Catholic Mass have been commonplace as long as I can remember. Decades at least. Not sure what the fuss is about here. Is the Vatican somehow different from the cathedral downtown?
I have been attending Catholic services exclusively since 1997 in the US.
I estimate that 80% of lectors, 85% of catechists, and 90+% of DREs are women.
Well, but, afterall, what is a woman? Any man that loves another man, by his definition.
There have been female lector in my church for a few years now.
