Rev. Dr. Victor Aloyo, Jr is the President of Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA, one of the 12 seminaries belonging to the heretical Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Previously serving as the Associate Dean of Institutional Diversity and Community Engagement at Princeton Theological Seminary (PCUSA), Aloyo recently preached a barnburner of a bad sermon at Saint Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Dunwoody, Ga.
Here, Aloyo ripped into the parable of the wedding banquet in Matthew 22, explaining, “If what we hear in today’s gospel is really what the kingdom of heaven is like, friends, then I am not interested.”
Describing it as “disturbing” and “inflammatory,” he reveals that he is “mystified by the behavior of characters in this bizarre little story,” saying that it does not fit the image of the kingdom of heaven. Later, he calls it a “complex and painful text” and insists “there are too many contradictions and inconsistencies to take it at face value.”

“If what we hear in today’s gospel is really what the kingdom of heaven is like, friends, then I am not interested.”
I don’t think he needs to worry about being there.
“If what we hear in today’s gospel is really what the kingdom of heaven is like, friends, then I am not interested.”
Then, friend, God is probably not interested in you.
Wow. This is the same assault on Biblical teachings that started with the German liberal school in the 19th century.
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.1 John 2:19.
Rots a Ruck there, Vic.
Tou mean the “pastors openly repudiating the gospel” thing?
CC
Just another apostate mainline pastor that doesn’t believe what is actually written in the Holy Bible. How many of those do we have already?
Why would a filthy depraved homosexual be interested in the Gospel? It does REQUIRE repentance after all. Something that queers are incapable of doing. /spit
Of course he’s not interested in the Kingdom of Heaven. The unregenerate are at war with God.
I posted: “John MacArthur: The Holiness of God and His People” here on FR the other day. It goes into this very thing and sadly points out that this war against God has brought us to the “judgememnt of abandonment”. It’s worth listening to JM Jr’s sermon / lecture.

The Rev. Dr. Victor Aloyo, Jr., needs to find a different kind of work. Since he is Presbyterian, he might be interested in a quote I once heard attributed to Calvin: “It would be better for you to fall and break your neck while climbing into the pulpit than you should utter one word that would lead anyone astray.”
My mother (93) is a Presbyterian. I pray often for her conversion.
So what does he disagree with, specifically?
Columbia Theological Seminary is a liberal bastion.
What that means in practice is that they believe that Jesus is just a man. That is—not fully man and fully God—as the bible teaches.
This means that the sacred mystery at the center of Christianity is not God’s great reconciliation with man —as well as man’s reconciliation to God—in the person of Jesus. Jesus is a sufficient sacrifice. In him the ancient sacrficial system—practiced by all peoples around the globe— was abolished.
The liberals assert that Jesus is just a man. Therefor the central mystery of the liberal church is a human sacrifice.
The liberals are really no better than aztec priests ripping open the chests of prisoners to present their hearts to the sun god.
And then doing it over and over again. Because no human heart no million no billion human hearts are a suffient sacrifice.
Only God himself in the person of Jesus Christ —is a sufficient sacrifice.
In him we have our being. He is the one that intercedes for us with the Father. He is the one who enables the fellowship of believers.
just lime peter taking his eyes off Jesus and sinking...
It always bothered me too .... until I heard the rest of the story.
It was explained that people attending such events in that day were given wedding robes. The people thrown out into the street refused to wear what was customary, and given to them.
You would think that a so called seminary president would know that.
Sounds like he’s refusing to wear the robes...
Yes, it is a huge problem that idolaters are teaching in seminaries.
Endless supplies of great wine sounds like Heaven to me!
I am a huge John MacArthur fan.
As I am happy with my local church, I did not discover MacArthur until covid lockdowns 2020 when he stood his ground, obeying God rather than man.
Anyone else here the least bit bothered by this stuff?
C. S. Lewis, The Great Divorce*. I'm reminded of the account in there of the apostate clergyman**. In sight of heaven itself, he refuses to repent and believe, and returns to Hell. "Oh, I have a paper to deliver. We have a little theological society down there."

So what does he disagree with, specifically?
Just guessing, but probably this part:
“But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen.”
