DeSantis vows to fire FBI officials who targeted Catholics: ‘Going to be a reckoning’

(LifeSiteNews) — Governor Ron DeSantis said on “day one” he will fire Federal Bureau of Investigation officials and other government leaders who targeted parents concerned about inappropriate curriculum and books, as well as those who targeted traditional Catholics.

He said “there’s going to be a reckoning” when it comes to the federal officials responsible.

The 2024 Republican presidential candidate made the comments during a Fox News town hall yesterday in response to a question about “weaponized” government. The Iowa GOP caucus is on Tuesday, January 15.

He mentioned how the targeting has included IRS investigations into Tea Party groups under President Barack Obama and the false claims that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election.

He criticized Congress for not doing enough to “rein in” the “rogue” law enforcement agencies and instead passing spending bills on “autopilot” without using the “power of the purse.”

“On day one, you’ll have a new director of the FBI, you’re going to have new people in the Department of Justice,” Gov. DeSantis said. He said he wants to “take power out of ” D.C., in contrast to President Trump, who said he wants to build a new FBI headquarters in Washington.

If an FBI agent is going after parents going to a school board meeting, I’m firing those people.

If the FBI is colluding with Big Tech to censor dissent in this country, I’m firing those people.

If the FBI is passing around memos saying observant Catholics are potential terrorists, I’m firing those people.

There’s going to be a reckoning for the agencies that plunged this country into lockdown during COVID — Anthony Fauci, CDC, NIH, all those agencies, FDA, you’re going to see major accountability, because if we want to change the way this government operates, you’ve got to hold the people accountable who are responsible for the madness, and I will do that.

The federal government under President Joe Biden has regularly faced criticism for targeting conservatives, Republicans, and Christians.

For example, Attorney General Merrick Garland wrote a memo that ordered federal law enforcement to keep a close eye on parents and advocates who attended school board meetings to oppose pro-LGBT policies, COVID mandates, and curriculum issues. The directive had “no legitimate basis,” a U.S. House committee concluded.

The DOJ also has a history of using predawn raids to arrest pro-life individuals on questionable charges. As first reported by LifeSiteNews, armed federal agents conducted a predawn raid on Mark Houck’s home in Pennsylvania in September 2022. The DOJ picked up an old battery charge related to his pushing an aggressive abortion facility “escort” away from harassing his son. A state court had already thrown out the charge when Garland’s DOJ picked it back up in an ultimately failed attempt to convict the pro-life father of seven on violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act).

Houck’s case should not be confused with a separate federal raid on another pro-life father several weeks later.

In October 2022, the FBI raided the home of pro-life advocate Paul Vaughn in front of his children and arrested him, charging him with “conspiracy against rights secured by the FACE Act, and committing FACE Act violations,” as previously reported by LifeSiteNews.

Vaughn, the married father of 11 children, told the Daily Signal that the FBI came to his home in Centerville, Tennessee, with “guns pointed at the door, banging on the house, yelling and screaming, ‘Open up. FBI.’”

As alluded to by DeSantis, an FBI field office in Richmond, Virginia, also produced an intelligence bulletin labeling Catholics who prefer the Latin Mass as potential “terrorists.”

The memo was signed off on by the top attorney for the FBI Richmond office. FBI Director Christopher Wray originally claimed only one office was involved in the memo, but that later turned out to be false. In fact, Portland and Los Angeles offices were also involved in the creation of the memo.

I suppose better late than never.

The fact that he defends a group, to me, makes it more realistic. If he has the ability to reckon the genocide-want act of the fed officials there and their inherent destructiveness of any society, that they essentially are schizo immature little devils who need an adult reckoning with the law of adults, is a good thing.

To be sure, it is not enough, I need him to pump up those number and request a general national reckoning with the nonsense going on in this country, talking to corporate nutcases too.

Desantis has issues but I have to like where he stands. Trump and Desantis need to kiss and make up! Desantis and Haley need to stay in the race because i fear Trump will be taken out of the way somehow, if not assassinated. I fear that for the country’s sake because I believe such a thing will set the nation on literal fire and the Dem’s will not see the gains they think they will see from it killing Trump id they don’t succeed in jailing him. We also have a horrible RINO faction in the Republican party that I think are secretly liberals(maybe Desantis is, too...I don’t know) and just need to declare themselves democrats.

Perhaps Congress people and senators who are being blackmailed could be buoyed up if they knew that for anything short of pedophilia or murder, their transgressions might be “ignored” if they would give up the goods on those darker forces who are blackmailing them. If they would send out a general distress signal, then perhaps the general populace couild see where we need to respond and how to do it. Much of what congress does in secret, affairs and such, the general public amongst the peoples are also guilty of. Most folks try to live right but many have made mistakes in their lives that they are not proud of and would never do again. That is why many otherwise good people shy away from government...because the darker administrative state will make sure the sins of such “otherwise good people” are found out and will be exploited for blackmail purposes. We need to have a general airing out of our mistakes and failures to force the darker more evil people out from the crevasses of the deep state from where they are hiding. Call it a Yeah so what movement, what is your excuse for being so evil and what are you hiding? The American People by and large tend to want to be forgiving of folks who sincerely admit their faults and want to do better as we all have done things we don’t want to talk about,...but lie to them and gaslight them you’ll lose their trust.

King David made grievous mistakes but he owned up to them and always tried to be a better King...that’s the sort of government we need! We know that men and women will all have faults, that is why many of us like Trump. He never pretends to be anything than what he is, I just fear his age is catching up to him finally! So we need secondary people who can step in to fight the Dems just in case trump can’t beat the courts this year. The cheating is going to be bad enough and the Dems are going to try and blow their whole wad in a permanent takeover this year. Even if they think they’ve succeeded, it will send the nation into revolt..and even they know they don’t have the “best people” on their side. They are gambling that their own verson of imported “hessian Hispanic fighters will back them up. I think their gamble will fail but our nation will be generally destroyed...if we are lucky it might be split with some of the more conservative parts functioning well enough.
