Back in the 60’s the Pope threw open the windows, “modernized” the convents, real Nuns left, many Catholic schools closed. God, Ten Commandments
was taken out of schools. Sad.

The liberalism in the Catholic Church is a factor in the decline of American religious belief. However, there are two trends in Protestant ranks that contributed more to this decline. The first is the rise of liberalism in the once dominant mainline denominations. Starting as far back as the late 19th century, modernist leaders in the principal Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, and United Church of Christ denominations were questioning the inerrancy of the Bible. These early liberals came to dominate the these denominations and the seminaries were also infiltrated by political leftists, even open Marxist advocates. This is why the pulpits of these churches are filled with so-called social justice warriors who advocate the glorification of sexual perversion, white guilt, and Marxist ideology.

The second trend was the rise of dispensationalism among Bible believing Christians. This movement started with the Irish minister, John Nelson Darby, and was popularized in this country by a former attorney, Cyrus Scofield. The dispensationalist interpretation became dominant in Baptist, Pentecostal, and charismatic churches as well as Bible churches that largely derived from Dallas Theological Seminary. Dispensational Christians, while being Bible believing and orthodox, did not believe that the Christian faith was supposed to reform and improve the culture. Because of the belief that the end times were imminent, they saw little benefit in rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
