ELCA was not that bad, it came out of merger of many different Lutheran groups. There were (and still may be) some pretty conservative congregations within it.
But somehow the liberals took over.
As a result, they have lost soo many members and congregations, but they keep sliding further into abyss.
I guess there is some sociological law that any organization not expressly conservative will become liberal over the time?!
(I heard it somewhere, but forgot where, but I am not Harvard president)

I belong to a small ELCA congregation in Southern Indiana. We TOTALLY ignore the synod. We do unfortunately IMO send in benevolence money, which I know goes to things I don’t believe in.

We can also understand what's happening this way: the fall has not stopped but continues apace.
