In this case, it is satisfying to see this kid start to lose confidence.
He starts out by presenting his position as eloquently as a PhD candidate and, by the end, is mumbling and rambling like a HS freshman who has forgotten to do his homework.
Total agreement with you regarding Frank Turek. First a word about “apologetics”. The word drives me crazy because many (most?) Christians hear the word and say or think “why are you apologizing for your faith?”. But the word in Greek is “apologia”, meaning a defense of the faith. This is the word in 1 Peter 3:15 that says “always be ready with a defense (apologia) for the hope that is within you ... “ As apologists, we are defending the faith, not apologizing for it.
Back to Frank Turek, he and Norm Geisler (now deceased) wrote a book that I consider the text for Christian apologetics 101. It has the incredible title, “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist”. Each chapter covers a different topic about the faith such as cosmology, fine-tuned universe, evolution vs. creation, Bible accuracy, evidence for the resurrection and many others. It is easy reading and enjoyable if you don’t mind having your atheism challenged. It runs about $16 on amazon. Highly recommended.
