Indeed. One might note that most stained glass, icons, and statues in the sorts of Churches that feature such things do not depict The Father, The Son, or The Holy Ghost. However ... the people they do depict only matter because those people were radically faithful servants of God. So, in the end it all points straight to Our Lord.
(Exception to this include the lurid depictions of Hell that some Italians favored. Even that has the message of salvation in it: "In case you're wondering what Jesus saves you from, take a look ...")
