Mega churches - shallow ground.

Still, the Gospel and the Spirit are strong. Fertile soil is best, but even in mega-churches as well as staid so-called “mainline” churches, God can work in the lives of individuals and congregations.

Again, fertile ground is best, especially when plowed by a faithful steward.

I don't see where this editorial showed that there is a "major faultline" in megachurch culture.

There definitely is a faultline between megachurches and truly Christian churches, but not within the megachurch movement.

Also, to claim that megachurches preach "liberal theology" is not accurate. Many preach the "prosperity gospel" which is anathema to liberal theologians. If a megachurch accepts gays and those who support and have had abortions, it is not because they have examined the Bible and found support for those beliefs, but just because more church members means more money.

The only rift between megachurch leaders is whether to spend the next millions on a new private jet or a new mansion.

Depends what is meant by “megachurch.” The Calvary Chapel is Bible- and Christ-centered denomination that includes many churches whose worship services draw thousands.

Emotionalism in the Christian life is a sign of a baby Christian. Some people think all the Christian life is, is consolation and good feelings. A mature Christian loves God in dryness and continues in his walk with Jesus (and marriage) despite the lack of feelings. Feelings/Consolations Christians are the “milk” only Christians God speaks about through Paul. He can’t feed them dry meat, they’re babies. What will these FEELINGS Christians do under persecution? They’ll be sifted like wheat. Their foundation is the sand of immature, childish emotionalism. I sometimes hear Christians who aren’t healed as being described as weak in faith. This leaves me thinking: “Is her/his faith weak or is your faith weak? She/he keeps falling Christ along the Way of the the Cross because her/his faith is strong. If Christ gave you such trials, you’d quit, you’re such a sensualist baby.”

The Colliers’ saga is a motion picture for those who’ve watched these houses of cards wobble under the weight of their own hubris.

hubris vs hebrews

Having “worship services” that emulate stage shows may predispose people to moral failure. That same worldly spirit that drives many secular performers is certainly able to infect Christians if they let it.

Infidelity in that environment is very common, almost expected.

” It’s time to reclaim the church from the clutches of charisma ...”

NO, its time to ABANDON “organized religion” altogether.

Satan and his demons have taken over “organized religion”.

Just look to the current POPE! What has been done about HIM?

NOTHING!

Like the “good Muslims” Catholics continue to follow their leader who has abandoned God for Satan.

God and His word are all you need. Maybe a few close friends, but NOT any pastors/priests/ministers/leaders. CHRIST is your “leader”.
