Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 22

Paul Before the Sanhedrin

30 The commander wanted to find out exactly why Paul was being accused by the Jews. So the next day he released him and ordered the chief priests and all the members of the Sanhedrin to assemble. Then he brought Paul and had him stand before them.

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
How Wonderful and Magnificent is Your Most Holy Name!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are Holy,

Thank You For Your Faithfulness,
And Providing For Us Even Before We Ask.
Thank You For Your Clear Guidance,
And for Your Beautiful Miracles.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

It occurred to me that, as Paul stood before the Sanhedrin, he was looking into the faces of people he knew. These were people he had studied with, worked with, and may have even been colleagues and friends.

There were two major groups, or Parties, represented in the Sanhedrin. In some ways, it could be likened to our own Congress, which is sharply divided into Democrats and Republicans. Although there may be a few Libertarians, Socialists, or Independents, the major struggle is between the two main parties. Others may argue that "they are all the same" and merely wear labels that say they differ, but all have the same agenda.

The two major parties in the Sanhedrin were The Pharisees and the Sadducees. The major difference between them was a Belief in the Afterlife and the Supernatural. The Pharisees believed in these things, and strove to insure their place in heaven through strict adherence to The Law of Moses, with added laws and customs to safeguard this quest. The Sadducees were more concerned with "The Here and Now". There was one common agenda, however, and that was to preserve their Religious, Ethnic, and National Identity in the midst of Pagan Roman Occupation.

Unlike Peter, John, and Stephen, Paul was once a member of the Pharisees. He KNEW what they believed, and he knew their motivation. He also knew how querulous they could be when hit with a question that went to the very core of their Faith.

We will see how Paul uses THAT knowledge when we continue tomorrow!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 69

To the leader: according to Lilies. Of David.

1 Save me, O God,
for the waters have come up to my neck.
2 I sink in deep mire,
where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,
and the flood sweeps over me.
3 I am weary with my crying;
my throat is parched.
My eyes grow dim
with waiting for my God.

4 More in number than the hairs of my head
are those who hate me without cause;
many are those who would destroy me,
my enemies who accuse me falsely.
What I did not steal
must I now restore?
5 O God, you know my folly;
the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.

6 Do not let those who hope in you be put to shame because of me,
O Lord God of hosts;
do not let those who seek you be dishonoured because of me,
O God of Israel.
7 It is for your sake that I have borne reproach,
that shame has covered my face.
8 I have become a stranger to my kindred,
an alien to my mother’s children.

9 It is zeal for your house that has consumed me;
the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.
10 When I humbled my soul with fasting,*
they insulted me for doing so.
11 When I made sackcloth my clothing,
I became a byword to them.
12 I am the subject of gossip for those who sit in the gate,
and the drunkards make songs about me.

13 But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord.
At an acceptable time, O God,
in the abundance of your steadfast love, answer me.
With your faithful help 14rescue me
from sinking in the mire;
let me be delivered from my enemies
and from the deep waters.
15 Do not let the flood sweep over me,
or the deep swallow me up,
or the Pit close its mouth over me.

16 Answer me, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good;
according to your abundant mercy, turn to me.
17 Do not hide your face from your servant,
for I am in distress—make haste to answer me.
18 Draw near to me, redeem me,
set me free because of my enemies.

19 You know the insults I receive,
and my shame and dishonour;
my foes are all known to you.
20 Insults have broken my heart,
so that I am in despair.
I looked for pity, but there was none;
and for comforters, but I found none.
21 They gave me poison for food,
and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

22 Let their table be a trap for them,
a snare for their allies.
23 Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see,
and make their loins tremble continually.
24 Pour out your indignation upon them,
and let your burning anger overtake them.
25 May their camp be a desolation;
let no one live in their tents.
26 For they persecute those whom you have struck down,
and those whom you have wounded, they attack still more.*
27 Add guilt to their guilt;
may they have no acquittal from you.
28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living;
let them not be enrolled among the righteous.
29 But I am lowly and in pain;
let your salvation, O God, protect me.

30 I will praise the name of God with a song;
I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
31 This will please the Lord more than an ox
or a bull with horns and hoofs.
32 Let the oppressed see it and be glad;
you who seek God, let your hearts revive.
33 For the Lord hears the needy,
and does not despise his own that are in bonds.

34 Let heaven and earth praise him,
the seas and everything that moves in them.
35 For God will save Zion
and rebuild the cities of Judah;
and his servants shall live* there and possess it;
36 the children of his servants shall inherit it,
and those who love his name shall live in it.

Praying for your quick healing LTOS, in the Name of Jesus. I hope you are over the hump and on your way to feeling better. I had covid right before Thanksgiving (thankfully a mild case) so I can sympathize!

Praying for our Messianic Jewish brothers and sisters this morning

Prayer For Christians In Israel

Heavenly Father, I pray for all those in Israel who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah and Saviour and I pray that in Your grace, You would use them to be a true witness of the love of God and of the forgiveness and Salvation that only comes through His only begotten Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.

I pray that individually and as the body of Christ, the Church would be used by You to be a light to lighten those in Israel whose eyes have been blinded to the truth of the glorious gospel of Christ, and I pray that many Jewish men and women would come to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus.

Lord, I know that You are the God of Israel, the Rock of their salvation, and their promised Redeemer, and that You have promised to one day give them the true inheritance in their land as promised to their forefather Abraham, when Jesus reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords over all the earth.

Lord, I pray for that time when as a nation they will accept Christ as their true Messiah, and so all Israel shall be saved, but Lord in Your grace and mercy, I pray that You would use Your Church in Israel to witness to Your people Israel, who do not know the Lord Jesus, so that many come to know Him as Saviour, very soon. In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
