An Alabama mayor and pastor who killed himself after local media reported on his cross-dressing alter ego wrote erotic fiction using thinly-veiled identities of people in his community, it has emerged.
F.L. 'Bubba' Copeland, 62, died by suicide on November 3 after details of his 'alter ego' Brittini Blaire Summerlin were shared online.
Copeland was the mayor of Smiths Station, a town of almost 7,000 people 10 miles from Columbus, Georgia.
He also owned a grocery store in the town, and was lead pastor at the First Baptist Church of Phenix City, just across the river from downtown Columbus.
Copeland, considered a pillar of the community, was revealed after his death to have been writing erotic slasher fiction and using the identities of some local women.
The women found their photos had been used, in addition to their names.
'I had some people start sending me photos that were posted of me on multiple porn sites, I guess you could say, that also had pictures of 'Brittini,' as well,' said Ansley Summerlin.
She told WTVM: 'He proceeded to use my first and middle names on these sites.
'And I believe there are about nine sites now that have five or six photos of my face, and my name, across the net.'
A second woman, described by WTVM as a local hairstylist, said Copeland used her identity in his erotic fiction.
'It said my first and last name,' she said.
'And it was basically describing the way that I look - and intensified, I guess, as a porn star.
'And it went into very graphic detail. I didn't get past the first page because I honestly couldn't stomach it.'

I just knew there was more to this story
He did the right thing.
No he did not. He should have taken his medicine and repented.
On November 1, 2023, journalist Craig Monger of conservative news website 1819 News reported on social media posts by Copeland in which he wore women’s clothing and described himself as a “transgender curvy girl” using the name “Brittini Blaire Summerlin”.
The contents of Copeland’s posts allegedly included explicit photos of himself, as well as graphic memes and transgender pornography.

And no one recognized he was mentally ill? At least he only killed himself and didn’t shoot up the town or his church.
There were some who assumed his “cross-dressing” was just his own personal and private activity, and how sad he would be shamed into suicide because of private fetish.
Perhaps we are discovering his “private activity” actually involved and hurt many other people as well. He knew the consequences of that thread unraveling
Bubba was a mixed-up, screwed-up creep.
From other stories his wife knew she was the one who took the pictures. They thought this was okay. This should worry you all but it does not seem to.
It is not okay he killed himself you all! He should have gotten help. Someone even requested a welfare check on him and police were doing just that when they found him dead. So someone knew he was not okay. How can you all be co un-Christian?
Bubba needed Jesus that is what Bubba needed.
You mean he didn’t kill himself because of transphobia?
Remember the Bible says “Not everyone who calls me Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven”
This story is why you are to pray for your pastors and priests as well.
“It is not okay he killed himself you all! He should have gotten help.”
One could say the same about Judas. But what do you expect us to do after the fact? Pray for his soul?
The ancient Athenians chose officials by lot, that is, randomly, and they only held office for one year. It makes sense. Anybody who wants to run for office is likely to have something wrong with them. If officials are incompetent, the public will have to pay close attention and take an active role to minimize the damage.

Jesus would have forgiven Judas if only Judas and asked!!! Even what Judas did was not unforgivable.
At one point in his life I’m sure he did some good...but that was long ago.
Only God knows
He should have been outed and gotten treatment long ago to avoid his suicide, but I still stand by crediting him for not killing anyone else in the process.
I suspect if you drilled down into the past 40 years...he has a lot of history that can’t be discussed at the dinner-table. Note, on the minister job...this was a Baptist Church (but not a SBC situation). I would imagine that he paid $99 for a minister certificate and this was just a gimmick.
