We don’t need to get too fancy with our interpretations, basically evil is the province of beast, dragon and false prophet and it is easy to see who those are in today’s world.
It also points a finger by default at the identity of the whore of Babylon.
That would pretty much have to be connected to our part of the world, and what part of our society resembles the image?
It seems inevitable that these issues will come to some final crisis and resolution, in Israel there is a realization that there is no point in waiting to begin an aggressive self-defence, as potential enemies could acquire nuclear weapons, and then an extinction event could occur.
If some intelligence came into our hands that Iran would definitely have nuclear weapons by 2025, would there be any point in waiting until 2025 to attack their capability? No, I would argue, there would be no point. Israel probably either knows, or believes, such a certainty (it could be 2028 or 2032, etc). At some point waiting makes no sense at all.
